I found this post in a 76ers forum. "If we get Silas or Van Gundy, I doubt we'll see DC back here. If Brown goes to Houston, DC would probably follow. And you can bet Brown would love to have Snow in Houston and move Franchise to the 2. What about Mobley for Snow? Now I know Mobley isn't a pg, but let's be realistic. AI doesn't need a real pg. After all, Snow isn't one. He doesn't create, he just hands it off to AI. Mobley can shoot and D up and I don't think Houston takes the next step unless they move Francis to Mobley's position, the 2. It's time to move the Sixers from a gritty, defensive minded team to a scoring team. NJ showed that they can do it and still D up. If we had Mobley, AI, KVH, and KT, we'd have 4 guys that could average 14 ppg and up. "
If you want to remain a well-liked and respected poster, I suggest you never again post a message of other fans referring to Steve as the Franchise. The jerk or Yao-hater is what he shall be referred as.
hey thanks! DC...Derrick Coleman? LOL...big fatty....he's actually good....though not worthy of a #1 overall pick. I'd love him here. Of course.....it would be even better if Kenny Thomas wanted to return to Houston along with Larry Brown. Sweet! Anyways.......I guess all fans are thinking the same thing. I'm likin it. Thanks windandsea!
**** Larry Brown. Why would you want a guy who won't honor his current contract? I like how the two supposed guys that have the inside track for the job both quit on their teams. That's a great quality to look for in a coach.
Brown's departure from Philly (unlike Rudy T's) was mutual. The ownership realized that the concept that Brown created, which revolved around AI, has run its course and a new coach is needed. Philly could have tried to keep him around, but they really wanted a new coach. If they screwed with him, they would then have had to buy him out and pay millions. This way, it worked for everyone. Also, it was handled with class, which will help them attract a new top notch coach. So, you don't have a guy who won't honor his contract. You might be able to say that about Van Gundy, but not Brown. Also, America lives by at-will employment. Everyone is free to resign if they want. JVG just hast to live with the fact that he can't coach another team until his contract lapses. He has never struck me as a coward or a quitter. It appears that he, like Brown, decided that the team was no longer responding to him and a change was needed.
It didn't work out. It was time to move on. Fortunately, there are no kids involved. University (Class in Session) Blue
i think with larry brown stepping down as coach of the philly may be good for the rocs. i think with brown hearing JVG going to houston scared him and that pushed him to resign so that the rocs would hire him. lol. anyways, it would be great to see someone with such great coaching skills to be the next general of the rocs. he should bring some great improvements to the rocs. bring larry brown to houston!
If you want to remain a well-liked and respected poster, I suggest you never again post a message refering to the Franchise as the jerk or Yao-hater. Anyone who doesn't love - at least respect - Steve Francis should not be allowed to post on this forum. After we have a good offense under our new coach you will jump on the Francis bandwagon. Always believe!

When I visited with Ed (Snider), he said that whatever I wanted to do he was all for it. He just wanted me to be happy. I don’t know. Episcopal High School hasn’t called yet. My family loves Philly, so we are just going to have to wait and see, but I can do whatever I want.” When asked about rumors about being a candidate for Houston and Cleveland “You had me going to North Carolina, Kansas and where else…? There are a lot of jobs opened in this league, but I just left a great one, and I am going to sit back and try to get with my family and figure out what is best for everybody. I saw the game last night and LeBron James has me going to Cleveland. He has to talk to some of my players first. I didn’t know until last night what was really going to happen. Hopefully, I will have time to sit down with Shelly and my assistant coaches and Billy and figure out what direction we need to go in.” Comcast-Spectacor Chairman Ed Snider On future compensation if Brown coaches in the NBA “The Sixers got some compensation because we were released from a contract for $6 million for two years. It was a mutual agreement between Larry’s agent and ourselves. Obviously, Larry didn’t have to resign. He could have stayed here as an unhappy coach and collected $6 million a year. We didn’t want him to be unhappy and we didn’t want to force him to coach, so we made a mutual agreement that released him from the obligation of coaching for us and gave him the ability to coach elsewhere.”
A couple of things. One, I'd like to know what you mean by Rudy's departure not being mutual. I've been away from the board for a couple of days and desparately want to know the inside scoop there. Bottom line is Brown was under contract and he quit. If he's such a great coach, why wouldn't Philly want him around? If his departure was 'mutual', and he's supposed to be this great coach, why doesn't Philly see this? If this 'concept' he created had run its course, is Brown not capable of creating any other concept? To me that would mean that he's one-dimensional....is that what the Rockets are looking for? A one-dimensional coach? To me Brown is a guy whose accomplishments are nothing compared to his 'reputation'. Add to that the fact that he never stays around to finish what he starts, and I don't see the attraction.
Nice observation. But what about this scenario: Brown helps our young players develop their games, with his great teaching skill. 2 years later, Brown retires coz of his age. Then Rudy comes back taking the mature team to another championship.
Don't you think Dunleavy is too much a nice guy like Rudy? He could do nothing with Sheed and Stud.... Francis is going to shake his ass all the game with Dunleavy as the head coach.
