3rd gen i5s are great for most uses. Don't need a gaming rig, and if you're lugging it around all day, weight becomes an issue.

Mine is great! The only thing I still need my HP laptop for is filing taxes electronically using TurboTax. Hopefully by next year I'll have another solution.

I suggest you get the Samsung ARM chromebook ($250). It's like a tablet with a keyboard. Very light, no spinning hard drive, no fan, doesn't get hot, very good keyboard. Or you could wait until the Google conference next month and see what's in the pipeline. My understanding is new models will be announced then.

That is a great deal, but where can you find them in stock?

So what's better Asus, hp, toshiba, Lenovo? Or is it on personal preference. I saw two deals. One at frys, toshiba for $300 and best buy had an hp for $300. I didn't know if they're good deals but I'm not on computer so I can't post the deals.

They'll all generally use the same hardware, though I've found Toshiba screens to be quite nice. What varies usually is how much crap preinstalled software and 'utilities' they can load up.

Personally, I have found Lenovos to be rather reliable.

Toshiba and Asus have been voted the more reliable notebooks by consumers. HP and lenovo are mid-tier brands. I'd probably rank it Toshiba > ASUS > lenovo > HP.

For what the guy needs, I agree with you. Asus has the best gaming laptops though. ;)

keep an eye out for cow boom laptop sales. Very nice deals for used lap pies and if you get a stinker. They have a 30 day grace period.

It's a little late now to ask unless you're going to return it.

But if you want to learn more at the expense of buyer's remorse, I'd google your processor...in this case google your computer model "N580" to find the processor "B960"... and the word "benchmark" and see where it compares with other processors.

There's also a difference in generations for the pentium "i" series.

And by "buyers remorse", everyone gets it because laptop prices always shift by the month. It's a good deal, and doing more research helps you target your needs.

website say that it is 340, you said you payed 400. I would talk to best buy if they just changed the price on it today.

Cj Larson said I paid 400, I never said what I payed. I just gave a link to what I bought. I payed 340.
