David Lee is a good comparison for Carl Landry. And I like David Lee more than Yi as well. Sometimes players who perform specialized roles really well (finish strong, rebound) are more valuable than guys with an all-around offensive game.

I am not talking about getting Yi for Chinese fans. Of coz you don't need more Chinese fans if you already have Yao.

Yeah, I know there are some second round picks who developed into all stars. But how often?

For sure you can like what you like. But for GMs, they are considering all aspects of games. David Lee can not carry a team. Yi has the potential to do it. It is that simple. BTW, they get paid more to carry a team as well.

Another reason why Landry is more valuable to the Rockets right now.

Not really. Milwaukee is a small city and no Houston. There was a reason why Yi's agents didn't really want Yi in Milwaukee, but Yao's agents had no problem seeing him in Houston.

Yi can not carry a team either. One day, in the future, he might be able to. Or maybe he becomes Tim Thomas. I don't consider him enough of a sure thing to trade an extremely productive, young role player for him. Not when we're trying to compete for championship in the present instead of 5 years down the road. I expect our GM would feel the same way.

Carl is just a steal in last draft.

I can't imagine even the most optimistic persons after the draft saying that Landry is going to be a part of our rotation.

All I was seeing was those TRADE ALSTON threads.

If the Rockets where in a 30 win lotto bound season then acquiring players with greater upside is an option to consider. A player, rookie or vet, thats helping a contending team win 80% of its games since he's been playing, why just give that up for an unknown? Landry's helping your bottom line out more than some established players might. Cassell and Horry arguably helped out the Rockets more than Barkley (I'da still make that deal but its still a debatable move for some...)

Zach Randolph's a better player than Landry but its "unknown" if he helps a team win. Would you make that deal? I wouldnt. Maybe for an unknown like Greg Oden who's supposed to be a sure thing but not for a Yi or Andrea Bargnani type

Morey will do a Landry+Novak+1st rounder for sure... Not only does Yi have a higher potential but more importantly we will have the entire chinese population backing us for the next 25 years. Business is Business and Les aint stupid

90% of Chinese NBA fans don't even like Yi. He is just a useless cocky rookie.

how many first rounders are superstars? how many lotterypicks are superstars? is your argument that you would trade Landry for Yi because Landry is a second round pick and Yi was a first rounder? if we redid the draft today with teams knowing what they know now, no question Landry would go in the first round. dude Landry could start on some teams right now. what are you fixating on 2nd round for?

Yi is guaranteed to be based on a superstar based on what? projection? if projection = fact someone better call Kwame Brown because he didn't get the memo. All your posts start and end with "yi is going to be a superstar." you make it sound like we're talking KG versus Eddie Griffin here.

If you have Yao you do not need Yi for the chinese market. what are they going to do, watch each game TWICE because both yao and yi are in it? are they going to buy an additional counterfeit jersey?

Even in the best case scenario that Yi blows up like tmac and gets tmac dollars, who's going to pay for the 3rd superstar on this team? les is a cheapass. when les coughs up the dollars are we going to play 3 on 5 because we have no $$$ for anyone else on the team? Being a GM is about filling the holes your team needs, not stockpiling a bonerlicious fantasy league team like Isiah hording guards

Buck's Babcock said, "He's definitely a second rounder, on #56 he will be on our radar."

Lemarc said: "My good sir, you would be hard pressed to find 5 first rounders playing better basketball. As a matter of fact, one of the five is his team-mate so we win again Mr. BabCOCK! Good day to you Mr. BabCOCK!"

R U Kidding? Landry (other than Yao) is the only Untouchable (including T-Mac) on the current roster. Keep Landry!

Larry Harris is an idiot. That shows that Bucks team dont know a squat in terms of evaluating talents.

I do not want to see Yi here. I doubt Morey would want that, either. He could become a good player in a few years, but right now, he's not even better than Charlie V!

I'd take Landry all day everyday over Yi. More productive, higher PER, high energy...he's been a great fit for the team.

Landry is light years ahead of Yi at this point in their careers. Landry is everything Yi needs to be. Yi is barely getting playing time now due to his poor play for months.

Not that it really matters... because Yi is probably the most untradeable Buck right now, but am I the only one who feels that Yi would be a good fit for the Rockets?

Given the right coaching(which means not horrendous Bucks coaching), I can see Yi's length play a big part in our interior defense. Neither Scola nor Landry nor Hayes can protect the paint. But Yi can provide the help defense.

On offense, Yi is like a raw version of Scola. And can both spread the floor for Yao while crashing offensive boards that Adelman likes.
