yeah! landrova! keep hopping and other team will see we get a big STEAL in the draft, muhahaha, grow up to 6-10~
Landry described HIMSELF as a Chuck Hayes type of guy after being drafted. He didn't do himself any favors cause he adds a lot more than Chuck Hayes could dream.
That's what happens when one person comes out after 5 years in college and the other comes out straight out of high school, even if it was at the age of 20.
Well, to be fair, Landry said he's a Chuck Hayes WITH OFFENSE. It was pretty funny at the time but Landry is backing up his words.
Except that Chuck's defense is great while Landry's is a work in progress. Landry should have said he is Chuck Hayes except that he really isn't like Hayes at all except for the fact that both guys hustle a lot.
Landry is a little undersized at the four (could use another inch or two), but he's got great leaping abilities, which compensate for his lack of size.
Yeah, we can see that from any photo having both of them. Landry is undersized playing four, but that is no problem. Barkley is only 6'6 and reported he's 6'4 acturally. The problem is Rox need another center backup for Yao in case he's injured.
Probably because he was still recovering from major knee surgery in his senior year and not 100%. He had mad hops before.
I think they might have listed him a bit shorter at Purdue. Either way, who cares. He can play PF, especially when he has yao working center. He does need to improve his defense but offensively he doesnt have much of a weakness. The amazing thing is that we have barely seen his mid range jump shot, which is automatic. I will pat myself on the back and say that I did like him a lot as a pick and thought he could contribute, however as a early supporter, he is showing more than I thought he would so early. I figured he wouldnt start to produce until his second year. true...and they are both black.
I like that nickname. I also like the one someone gave him in chat last night. Carl Landy "The Manimal"
I have to admit that I wanted Nick Fazekas instead of Landry also. That was because as a Boiler grad, I knew he was listed at 6-7 his whole college career. I didn't want our PF spot manned with 6-6 & 6-7. That was before we traded for Scola. However after everything shook out; 6-6, 6-9 & 6-9 isn't so bad. Besides during pregame shoot arounds, Scola looks like a giant if Deke & Yao aren't around. I'd say he's 6-10 if not 6-11. Didn't that trio come up with something like 20 points & 24 rebounds in the Hornets game. I'll take that.
The truth about Carl Landry's height so people will stop calling him undersized. Purdue listed him at 6'7" and 190 lbs when he was a freshman at Purdue. Never bothered to measure him again and 5 years later on the Official Purdue program he was still listed at 6'7" and 190 lbs which is a toothpick. He actually grew a bit more from the time he was 18 to 23 years of age. So when he came into the NBA he measured 6'8 without shoes. "Why is everyone saying Landry is 6-7? He's listed at 6-8 which is a barefoot listing and that's his choice (players can have barefoot or shoe height). He's officially 6-7 3/4 barefoot and 6-9 even in shoes from his official NBA Draft measurement. He also weighed in at 248 pounds for his pre-draft measurement and I was told weighed in at 253 at training camp. Since 90 percent of NBA players are listed in shoe height, Landry is basically 6-9 253. Juwan Howard is listed at 6-9 253 and that's a shoe height. Although Howard is more like 260 and has a 7-2 wingspan, while Landry's wingspan is 6-11. Howard's true height is 7 feet even, and that's average for NBA centers. So this is why Howard can play PF or C. He's only about 2 inches taller in "true height" or "standing height" or "reaching height". Well if Howard can play C for extended minutes why can't Landry play PF? There is a thing called "true height" which is what NBA teams use to determine whether a player is undersized or not. Landry's true height measurement is 6-10. The NBA average true height at PF is 6-10. So Carl Landry is actually an average sized NBA power forward. Look at Amare for comparison, the Suns listed his specs after he grew after his draft specs as he was a high schooler." http://blogs.chron.com/nba/2007/10/math_sucks_rockets_waive_mike.html
