Based on the sleeve he was wearing on his knee during the Dallas game I think it's safe to conclude that he has a degenerative arthritic condition in his knee which will require artificial joint replacement surgery. It's time to face the facts guys. Landry's career is over.

What kind of BS is that you idiot. Makes sense coming from a guy named DoItPenisau.

Anyhow, if Landry needs to take two games out he should sit. The streak is secondary to our long term success.

Are you questioning my credentials as an internet orthopedic surgeon? Just watch the Dallas highlights of Landry dunking off a pick & roll in the second quarter and compare it to the Shaun Livingston clip. Deja vu. I mean, he didn't even do his helicopter thing afterwards. That pretty much speaks for itself.

Okay I confess I'm guilty. I started panicking when I first heard the news but I have an excuse. I was just starting to believe that maybe this team can do it all without Yao and then I hear Landry is out. No real explanation no timeline, just he is out! Imean here I am feeling good about this Rocket team like I haven't in a long time and part of why is the explosive play of Landry. The dude was playing as good as most of our competitors PF's and the team was geling like I have never seen before and then I hear Landry is out. I overreacted and I am sure he is just going to miss a couple of games and be back to his same old explosive jump thru the roof self. Knock on Wood!

    I had torn ACL myself.

Actually, there have been players who have played with a Torn ACL. However, that player should have very strong/well-maintained muscles to play through one. In Indonesia, there was a player who had torn ACL and yet played through a season, and even won the MVP.

However, it is very risky. When the quad / hamstrings muscles get fatigued, the knee has a high tendency to momentarily collapse.

I don't think it is torn ACL though, this injury is easily detected by doctors. Mine was easily diagnosed right after the injury.

So don't fret, i think Landry will be fine. He's a warrior. :)

Based on my purely speculative observation Carl Landry will have to have both legs amputated if he wants to live. Maybe one of his thumbs too.

I'm gonna throw my hat in and say that at most, it's a meniscus. Hopefully not, but a meniscus would have him out for 3 weeks or so.

Can we fly in the Phoenix medical staff to diagnose and if necessary treat the injury to Carl?

I don't want the Houston medical staff anywhere near this kid.

    A jumper's knee--that's a tricky injury.

Guys, don't you understand, Carl opt out of the season just so he can play for the USA Olympic team.

    ;)

Now, stop acting like "ants on a hot pan"!

HOUSTON (AP) -- New Orleans All-Star forward David West sat out for the third straight game with a sprained left ankle, missing the Hornets' contest against the Houston Rockets on Saturday night.

The Rockets were short-handed, too, with rookie forward Carl Landry sidelined with a bruised right knee.

West, the Hornets' second-leading scorer and rebounder, rolled his ankle in the second half of New Orleans' 100-88 victory over the New York Knicks on Monday night. He remained in the game, but then missed the Hornets' victories over Atlanta and New Jersey.

Hornets coach Byron Scott said the 6-foot-9 West should be ready to play against San Antonio on Wednesday.

Former Rockets player Ryan Bowen replaced West in the starting lineup. Bonzi Wells, traded to New Orleans from Houston on Feb. 21, also missed Saturday's game with a bruised Achilles' tendon.

"By Wednesday, both those guys will be pretty healthy and they'll be ready to go," Scott said.

The 6-9 Landry, a key player in Houston's current 17-game winning streak, hurt his knee in Wednesday's 117-99 win over Indiana. He played in Thursday's 113-98 win in Dallas, scoring 17 points with two rebounds.

Landry has averaged 10 points and five rebounds during the Rockets' franchise-record victory streak.

"Hopefully, I can get back on the court some time soon," Landry said. "I'm walking fine."

The Rockets signed Mike Harris to a 10-day contract to replace Landry. Harris signed with the Rockets as a free agent last July and averaged five points and six rebounds in Houston's first two preseason games this season. He was released on Oct. 22 and has been playing in China

Then he will become our version of the $6M Man. He'll be able to get a rebound, fire a pass down court and race down court to slam dunk his own allyoop pass. :D
