I think he had one of the highest offensive efficiency ratings of any PF in the entire draft and he tested off the charts athletically. Like Morey said he would have been a 1st round pick if he hadn't gotten hurt his junior year. Sometimes gems just slip through the cracks, ie.Cuttino Mobley.

Landry can finish at such high % because of his elevation and focus in finishing around the basket. Most of Landry's baskets come from open/uncontested layups or putbacks (same as Hayes). I dont expect him to finish 70+% in the paint the whole season. But somewhere around 65% in the paint is good enough.

I like the way Rick Adelman is playing Landry. Landry cuts hard to the basket for open/uncontested layups/dunks (same play for Hayes) or gets on offensive board for putbacks. That's the way to build the confidence of a rookie. Landry only shooted one jumper in last 7 games (actually in Portland game) and it's good. So, Landry has the ability to space the floor too. But I dont think Adelman is in a hurry to add that in the playbook. We will see that probably in March.

I noticed he does really well when he is right under the basket, he uses his size and is always able to put it in.

I'll always love JVG, but it's kind of good he's not the coach right now with regards to the 3 rookies. None of the young players ever seemed to develop that great under him (with the exception of Yao, but he was gonna progress under anyone). I feel like Adelman and his staff have contributed a lot to the success that Scola, Broooks, and Landry have had, so.... awesome. All three rookies are looking good.

Landry I have the feeling is going to develop into an All-Around basketball player. A guy with a 3 pt shot in his arsenal and penetration mid-range game as well as a solid post game. He's going to really be something. I really do think he'll eventually get to be a 20-10 basketball player.

hahahahaha yeah ok.... i love hayes, but he can't hold a torch to landry in anything except flops and rebounds. landry is gonna start by next season b/c he brings toughness, rebounding, and scoring. he doesn't start yet b/c he started out slow and b/c we just signed hayes b/c of his hard work last year. he's great, but let's get something straight, landry is the future at the PF spot! to that comment from northeast fan

Hayes does HELP the team still believe it or not. Its about getting minutes to those who help the team more in other ways. Rather than saying some guy should "never play again ever". Hayes has been bad but not that bad.

So then...since Landry is playing well on the cheap:
Would anyone even consider packaging him with a Mike James type contract for another player? Or keep him and let him develop?

We'd be idiots to trade Landry away. Just like we were idiots trading Azubuike away.
