I suggest avoiding a potential conflict altogether by just trading T-Mac. Also, the Rockets should be picking up roster positions, not losing them. Trading multiple guys for Carter just means the Rockets are going to have to look for free agents to plug empty roster positions in case somebody gets hurt.
Maybe. I always think of Yi as more of a small forward, or at least a power forward that floats on the perimeter like a small forward.
trust me, we would include hayes before Landry, but who wants to see his horrible FT? Out of scola, landry and hayes, we would definately keep scola over landry. If the rumor is true Ron, head, plus landry would yield us VC and Boone not a bad trade. However I would push to include hayes instead of Landry anyway i can. Boone is no landry on the offense and he no Hayes on defense. Boone is however our legit Yao backup after Deke retirement next season. i am interested to find out if Nets would include Yi instead of Boone?
Landry could be a starter on the Nets and score 15 a night easily. At this stage of his career, he would welcome that opportunity. That said, I hope that Morey can find a way to make the trade happen without Landry.
unless Yi is included there is no way Landry would want to go to New Jersey since they already have to many PFs. If Yi goes, Landry would beat out ANderson, Swift, Williams, and Najera easily for the starting job.
He can't be traded anywhere without his permission for one year. Here's the explanation from Coon's CBA FAQ: When can't a player be traded? For one year after exercising the right of first refusal to keep a restricted free agent (however, the player can consent to a trade to any team except the team that tried to sign him). http://members.cox.net/lmcoon/salarycap.htm#Q85
So that could mean the return of Lil Mike Harris. Unless he's bound in a deal over seas or something. Right? Who else that we lost can we plug? Wait for it, wait for it.... Stevie??? I know someones bound to say it.
I'll say it even though im not the haters but I would have loved to see how he would have played with McGrady and Yao but.... HE'S DONE!!!!!!! be prepared to read that over and over again
That's why its going to be scola. The rocket are going to want a clean trade not one depending on a 2nd yr player. Landry has more upside and is more enticing to a young team vs scola. Scola shouldn't be a deal breaker if the other team wants landry instead.
Believe you me I know this. But you know someone else on this board is gonna start crying for their hero back. And I def. do not hate SF3 either.
I'm not completely dense. I understand the concept of putting up better numbers in a different conference, or on a crappier team... BUT, you can be damn sure if Carl Landry goes to NJ and starts putting up 16/9 numbers for a few seasons we're just going to see a repeat of the Rudy Gay / Battier threads here for that time period. And, while it is different over there, it is still basketball, in the NBA, against similar competition. Point being, if anyone really thought Landry could put up 16/9 a game as a starter (and he might be able to...I don't know), shouldn't there be more threads clamoring for him to be a starter on our team, right now? It's not like Scola is putting up those numbers, or a defensive force himself or anything... That's not to say Landry or his agent shouldn't believe it. Just pointing out, that short of the Rockets making multiple runs to the WCF or Finals, if the above scenario does happen, I don't know if I can take simultaneous Gay/Battier and Landry/whomever trade revision threads in this forum!
Unless Landry agrees to waive his no trade right, in his first contract year he cannot be traded. The article more or less says thats what New Jersey wants, it's a Devin George situation essentially. If New Jersey can woo him they can have him. The reality is tho, why should Landry go to a team like that? He would block it most likely....
Ahhh, gotcha. Thanks. If we get Vince, Doesnt Carl pretty much HAVE to be involved? I mean, they want youth and expirings, I just do not see how we could get it done without giving up Carl... Maybe Brooks-Tracy-Shane For Vince and trash? Hmmm
Correct, it is possible he could block this trade, but I'm with ClutchCityReturns on this one, I think he would be okay with it. In the Eastern Conference, Landry is a legitimate starter and could average 14-18 points and 6-9 rebounds a night. And why wouldnt he go to the Nets? If you remember, in the offseason he agreed to sign with the CHARLOTTE BOBCATS. If that doesn't scream a player looking for opportunity above winning, i honestly don't know what does. And don't underestimate the Nets, a lineup like Devin, Jarvis, Ron, Landry, Lopez with Simmons and Yi off the bench is a definite contender for a playoff spot RIGHT NOW. Couple that with some expiring contracts and the opportunity for Jay-Z to woo some top-tier player to come to Jersey in 2010, I think Carl could be walking into something special out there. But me being a Rocket fan, and a big Landry supporter, I would hate to see him go. All I'm saying is don't be surprised if he immediately agrees to it should this trade happen.
Your tracy shane trade wont work, that comes out to about 30 mil worth of contracts, thats really hard to organize... More or less it would have to be Ron & Shane and junk for Vinsanity OR Tracy w/Cash and picks for Vinsanity and junk. Realistically I think that's what happens. The nets look to tank the season with Mac, set him free this summer and get some goods....
