Landry isn't hurt... but you know things are going good when Landry's ordinary-looking game comes out to be 17 points
i noticed it too and was wondering if he was banged up. he has taken some hard fouls. i thought he would have dunked the reverse layup and also the one down low with stack on him. that being said, he had a great game. he has just raised our expectations to rediculous proportions!
he probably still remembers that block from last game and just momentarily scared he might eat it again.
i think it's like hitting the rookie wall, you can continue to dunk like that everynight. Just Score Mandry!
On several occasions, when Landry could've dunked the ball and made a statement, he opt to softly lay it in the basket instead... I noticed the knee sleeves but I didn't connect the dots till I read this thread. Hopefully I'm just thinking too much.
You know, could it be that after playing a tough game yesterday that he might be a little tired? Besides, dunks are nice but it's still 2 points on a put in. 17 points off the bench in limited min is just that - great production off the bench. Give the kid a break. A couple days rest and I'll bet he's back dunking on Wells and Chris Anderson.
I asked my friend about this earlier, and he told me that in Purdue he blew out his knee his junior year and usually wears knee braces. I never noticed this before . Don't know credible he is, someone might want to look into it
^^^^ Just looked it up on wiki and it says he "injured his knee, side-lining him the rest of the season"
Watching the final seconds of the Indy game now. Yep, I saw no brace. He's going to need that athleticism against the bigger playoff opponents (Utah, LA), it's something we should keep an eye on. It's one thing to make soft lay-ins successfully against the limited athleticism of Dallas, it's another to try it against Millsap, AK47, Boozer, etc.
I noticed it right away, knee could be a little sore, It happened to me when I played on back to back games .(Two different leagues)after I blew my ACL out. Nothing major, an ice pack and a day rest will help.
Rockets focus on getting to playoffs By JONATHAN FEIGEN Copyright 2008 Houston Chronicle First things first For all the Rockets had accomplished in their winning streak, moving from 10th when it began to fifth in the Western Conference, Rockets coach Rick Adelman said the goal has not changed. "I'm just worried about getting there," Adelman said. "Everybody kept taking about 'when you get to the playoffs.' ... You got to get there first. This year, especially, when we lost Yao (Ming), our whole focus is just to get there. I think we can compete against anybody we might play. Whoever gets there, those eight teams, there's no lock in that first round. You have to play well to win. "People won't look at us like that without Yao, but if we get there, we've proven we can compete." Only bruised The Rockets picked up a few bruises in Wednesday's win, but none that caused anyone to sit on Thursday. Rafer Alston caught a knee in his right thigh early in the game. "I knew it was going to be worse (Thursday)," Alston said. "It's tight, but it'll loosen up fine." Forward Carl Landry bruised his left knee Wednesday, but also was ready to play. The right stuff The Rockets began distributing posters and NASA-style patches to media members to promote their rookies for the All-Rookie teams. The NASA-themed posters include a photo of Luis Scola, Carl Landry and Aaron Brooks, with Scola and Landry holding astronaut helmets and a slogan: "Rookies Right Stuff. The future has arrived." "I like the picture," Scola said. "It was fun. They brought us the helmets. It was nice to see the real ones. I wanted to keep it. They wouldn't let me." Scola said he planned to visit Space Center Houston after the season. link: http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/bk/bkn/5599937.html
It could also be some of the vets, namely Scola, telling him that poster dunks are nice but sometimes it is better to let your defender fly by before going up if you want to have a long, injury-free career.
Your friend is wrong to be blunt. He wore a knee brace for the first couple games back after he blew out his knee and then maybe once or twice the rest of the year. Also something most of you don't know about him is he actually injured his knee twice at Purdue. He missed the last 3 or 4 games his first year at Purdue because he tore his ACL then rushing back too soon he retore in early the next year. That's why teams didn't give him good looks. He twice injured his knee at Purdue. This is also why when I saw the knee brace I became worried. I don't think it is a big deal though. I'm actually ahppy to see the article above that says he has a bruised knee. I would be a lot more worried if it was "soreness" in the knee. That would suggest it can't stand up to a full season of play. But bruised means he just got it banged against the Pacers.
oh well, guess he's banged up. Hope the doctors make the right diagnosis on whether or not to hold him out or not.
