http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/4892059.html Tuesday's story on the new lineup at KILT (610 AM) concluded with a paragraph in which CBS Radio Houston general manager Laura Morris made a reference to the difficult situation facing former morning talk-show host Lance Zierlein. The quote referenced in the paragraph, unfortunately, was cut from the newspaper, so we offer it here. "It's been a very rough couple of months for Lance, with a lot of things happening around him over which he had no control and no prior knowledge," Morris said. "We're really hopeful that we're going to find an opportunity for Lance to continue to be part of the SportsRadio 610 team." As Houston prepares to become a four sports-talk station market, meanwhile, Morris noted that KILT continues to dominate the Arbitron ratings, particularly in the new portable people meter numbers that will become official fodder for advertisers this summer. "You look at the resources and the brands that (the other stations) have going for them, and then you have a startup at 1560 on the dial, and you scratch your head and think 'good on you,' " Morris said. "I don't wish ill will to anyone, but I think that SportsRadio 610 owns the brand and will make sure that we protect it."
perhaps john left him without him knowing?? if i remember correctly, lance was out of town when john made his announcement. perhaps that has something to do with it? honestly, i'm just guessing. i remember the same thing happened when sam malone left KRBE...maria todd was on vacation, and it didn't sit well with her that her "partner" of many years took off on her that way without talking to her about it first.
i tuned in for vandermeer and ware this morning and it wasnt half bad. marc cant carry it on his own, but andre needs to progress a little and it will be fine.
After it became known Granato was leaving, he and Lance continued doing the morning show and Lance showed no hostility towards him. After he left, I heard Lance mention Granato a couple of times and he was complimentary. There is probably no hostility between the two.
there is no fury like a co-hot scorned...but it seems to be more than a broken heart going on with lance. Andre and marc have potential, but andre will need to be more aggressive. I likd his litle rant on the AAU this morning
(Bump) Looks like there's definitely some hostility between Lance and Rich Lord... http://blogs.chron.com/fantasyfootball/2007/09/prediction_on_texans_vs_panthe.html
I've had the good fortune of talking to them at length in person. Rich is a good friend with one of my buddies and Lance and I talked numerous times during the Save Our Rockets thing. I like both of them, but they are REALLY different. It's no surprise they don't get along.
