Classy! This is how you do it, no matter how knuckle-headed you may have been before. Thank the place you're leaving. Say something positive. That's the first thing you do.

    Strong work, team Lance.

pacertom, I have no idea at all, but it does seem like something was bothering that locker-room. I just don't see how you can explain that season otherwise. (No, not regurgitating a bunch of those bogus who's-dating-who rumors, but I think some people weren't getting along). Basically, I'm agreeing with you that Lance just didn't want to be there anymore.

Seems like to Lance, a 5 year contract is not a pro but a con instead. He wanted to retest the free agency as soon as possible.

I'm a big critic...but at that price tag we should have matched.

The third year is a team option. It is an excellent deal for a team like the Hornets that really needs talent.

My understanding is that part of the reason he went to Charlotte is that he feels that he will be a focus of the offense and would not be on better teams.

Something to keep in mind, Larry Bird knows Lance better than anyone in the NBA, he has long supported him and stuck up for him... and he wouldn't budge off of $9,000,000 a year.

He would have loved a 5 year max deal I'm sure, but 5 years at 9 million or so would lock him in on a reasonable team friendly deal in his prime AND when the tv money kicks in and salaries skyrocket.

After 3 years he is going to get a bigger payday if he continues and doesn't blow up. Like he said, he's betting on himself.

Yup, he wants to be a star and thinks he will get the touches and free reign to do so in Charlotte.... he wouldn't get that in Houston or any of the other contending teams.

His feelings were hurt and in Charlotte he gets to be a #1 option.

The Pacers need to find a way to dump Hibbert and rebuild around George.

I'm a big fan of Stephenson's game. He's a power forward playing guard. If keeps his head on straight and can improve his FT shooting he will be a stud for Charlotte.

To think, he got offered 5yr/44M by the Pacers and didn't want it...

    Matched?

Who is to say that Stephenson even wants to sign with Houston or play with Harden? Many factors in these decisions beyond price.

Indy is so screwed. Great deal for Charlotte. Seriously, it's a two year risk. Even if he's a complete headcase it couldn't possibly hurt them long-term.

Good signing. Wanted Stephenson, just so we could have two a-holes in the backcourt. (And he is a good player)

CHA will be a fun watch this year, especially with that court.

I like him... with a good coach, he would be good to great here in Houston. With McHale.. nay.

indy will play better without stephenson imo. he killed much of their overall chemistry this past season trying to play a bigger role than he should have
