Ben Dubose was just trying to show that Lance and this guy know each other pretty well. On Twitter people were questioning who this was reporting this news and why would Lance tell him.
He was likely only gonna pitch 1 of the first 6 games. It's not the end of the world. Certainly makes life harder,but not close to a death sentence. The bigger concern is next season if it's the big one.
Could be that McCullers asked for them to be deleted because he wants to or have the team announce the news. What I'm hoping for is McCullers asked for them to be deleted because there was a miscommunication and it's not as bad as expected. Or maybe he's going to try what he did a couple of years ago. Can't start but will try to pitch an inning in relief, even if it hurts like hell.
Even if it's true, leaking this news and then trying to "respect privacy" is a dick move by this guy.
One would have assumed if the news was good we would have had confirmation by now. Nonetheless I agree that it’s not a death knell by any stretch for the ALCS. He wasn’t going to pitch until Game 3, and I didn’t and still don’t expect the Astros to head to Boston down 0-2.
Give Odorizzi the Lance start. Short leash, but he's been solid the first and second times through the order. Even picked up a W at Fenway earlier in the regular season.
Damn of this is true what a crushing blow. Substituting lances innings with odorizzi and our poo poo portion of the bullpen is not ideal.
I think we need to assume now McCullers is out for at least the ALCS and hope it’s not another TJ situation. As for Red Sox, they will be the favorites but we can still beat them if our pitchers step up. Going further would be more difficult against Dodgers and Giants. Hope podcaster was full of crap but….
