Seems unlikely he could pitch in the WS if this is true.

Would Dusty lie, or fib? YOU BET YOUR ASS he would....this is the WS, I would be shocked if McCullers doesn't pitch.....

And why can't we sign Corea, we jettison Verlander's 40m right?

We should also jettison Greinke. Go into next year just like this year keeping our powder dry for an ace at the deadline if needed. If we re-sign Correa we have less question marks next year than we did this year. CF is now set, catcher is set, bullpen should be set by re-signing Graveman and Garcia. McCullers, Valdez, Garcia, Urquidy, Javier, Whitley or Brown. I see absolutely no reason to not re-sign Correa.

There are about 350,000,000 reasons why Houston won’t sign Correa.

It's a pretty safe bet they won't be resigning Greinke.

Between Greinke and Verlander's salaries we should be able to afford Correa......

As for McCullers...he has to pitch...if he can....I mean he has to at least TEST it........he has 6 months to heal a strain.

No more not pitching Garrett Cole moments please.

I get what you’re trying to say…but pitching is a different beast. You can’t just “tough things out” when it comes to throwing a baseball. If he’s not ready, and you force him to try, you’re risking a potential surgery that may not have been needed.

If the doctors thought he could be out there, you can bet Lance would be. No one wants this more than he does.

33 million for JV and I think 24 for Greinke

That's a lot of room to sign the most clutch SS in playoff history.

Isn't that the type player you want to "overpay" ?

Dude is easily on pace to have the most RBIs in post season history. One more post season run and he'd be 3rd all time by his mid 20s.

Plus he's been our most vocal leader coming out of this BS scandal.

Actually... the latest research suggest the focus on excess velocity has been what has been problematic

Without LMJ, I think we are even money at best.

Hopefully bullpen can keep it up and we get a couple more great starts.

I believe the sportsbooks had the Astros at around -150 favorites to open betting, and you have to think they're factoring in McCullers likely being out.

You’re probably right. I just don’t think the Astros should let him go if they can get him for 30m a year, especially when you are jettisoning 50M a year from Verlander and Greinke. I also think our young arms and young hitters can be re-signed when you let Bergman and Brantley go, and hopefully, can get a home town discount on Altuve if he is still playing well.

Correa ain't getting that from any team. And with the impending work stoppage in December that will effect free agency he may be inclined to go ahead and re-sign with the Astros if they make him an honest offer.

If the Astros offered him 7/$200 or 8/$230 I bet he takes it.
