Damnit. I forgot what I was going to post in here, and saw some stupidity and lost my train of thought.
One of my favorite players too. Loved watching him hit, sweet swing. May return, but I doubt it. He got his 1st hit today. I hope he does well.
not true at all. Bagwell has been suspected. as he should. a premier performer in the steriod era deserves wonder. does this mean Bagwell used.......no, and I honestly believe he didn't use. but to pretend he is outside the realm of possibility is wearing rose colored glasses.
Berkmans' numbers have him placed as the best switch hitter of alltime in some categories. Number 2 in most others. His numbers aren't too shabby either. And Biggio and Bagwell made the WS also
Puma was my favorite player. From his antics with Cubs fans to his play on the field, guy was such a character. It was inevitable, but man, it's humiliating to see the way he and Roy have been dealt, under their own terms of course, but they deserved a better fate for what they've given.
Just saw Lance's first at bat at Yankee Stadium. Not only did he get little to no cheers, but I'm pretty sure I heard some booing.
He's 2 for 2 so far tonight. That's nice to see, I want him to do well and get a ring, even if it means that the Yankees win another pennant. I also want Roy O to get a ring. I REALLY don't want both of them to make the WS though, I wouldn't be able to determine who to root for.
Yea...I was reading that Lance could still play and wants to play. I assume this move was made more because he is only hitting .179 as a Yankee. As we know, the Astros always seem to play terrible against AL teams. I'm not sure if it is mental block or what...but it looks like Lance brought it with him to NY. Or, maybe the AL pitching is just better than NL pitching and Lance would be more familiar with NL pitchers...meaning he is having trouble because he doesn't know AL pitchers as well.
44 plate appearances is a microscopic sample size. Plus, before the injury, he was in and out of the lineup and used in various spots.
[rquoter]• Puma Watch: Lance Berkman has shown some recent signs of life in New York, raising his batting average as a Yankee to .290 and his on-base percentage to .388. But he's still slugging just .377 for New York and .425 overall for the season. So with his 35th birthday less than five months away, Berkman is another one-time All-Star with an uncertain future. "What he wanted to have happen," said one old friend, "was to go have a two- or three-month intermission in New York and then go back to Houston. But I don't see that happening. So I don't even know if he'll be playing next year, unless Nolan [Ryan] thinks he's a fit in Texas." But a Berkman-to-the-Rangers scenario doesn't seem likely, either. So with his name about to pop on to an overcrowded first-base/DH market this winter, are there any other potential employers for Berkman that make sense? We know the three teams he told the Astros he'd go to before the trading deadline were the Yankees, Red Sox and Rays. We also know the White Sox, Angels and Dodgers had some degree of interest in him before the deadline, but Berkman vetoed the idea of going to any of those clubs. So could he surface with any of those teams next year? "I don't think he wants to venture too far from Texas, to be honest," his friend said. "So I don't know. I don't think money will be a major issue. It would have to be the right fit. So he may just pull the plug."[/rquoter] http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/columns/story?columnist=stark_jayson&page=rumblings100916 I've mentioned in another thread about wanting Berkman back, but unsure of where he fits.
