saying how they won with these guys and went to the WS with these guys that got traded(only to have the OBVIOUS fact pointed out that we had good pitching then)

saying that if we go into the season with this staff, we are going to have troubl getting outs (ok...no issues with that)

saying that he called every guy on the team for the most part and asked if they read Ortiz's article and asked what they thot of it

saying that he has an issue with Valverdes antics and how he irritates the other team and thats not how he wants his teammates to act and doesnt want to see it on his team and will address him face to face

saying whats the diff betw losing 10-8 or 2-1 (obviously comparing this coming year with the 2005 year)

Is there a link? Where are these comments published? Was it a radio interview? As a baseball fan for my entire life, which has been about one year longer than Lance...and as an Astros fan all those years, spending COUNTLESS hours in the dome, I have a huge problem with this kind of talk. He's basically degrading every pitcher on our staff, calling them out, telling them they suck. Guys like Backe, Woody, Wandy, Chris Sampson, Doug Brocail. And personally at this point if it came down to Valverde or Berkman I would choose to replenish the Astros farm system. So "Mr. 0-3 lifetime with 2 K's against Jose Valverde" is now gonna confront the man upon his arrival in Houston? Until Valverde gets tossed out of innumerable games, gets suspended or hurts someone physically...I think the fistpumping is great. In fact I think it's AWESOME! Here' s to "Papa Grande" getting 50 saves this year!

the annoying thing is that Berkman had a chance to come out and make it all go away by saying things like "well, it was a bit out of context.....yes he irritated me but so do a lot of guys the way they showboat.....if he gets people out it wont matter...blah blah blah..." instead he stood his ground

"Lance is going out on a limb," Backe said. "Maybe he's a little upset that his buddy Chris Burke was traded. But I don't know. He said what he said, and he certainly has a right to say what he wants."

    Best quote ever.

Ummmmmmmmmmmmm Im pretty sure he was given a chance - and completely blew it.

Berkman is starting to really annoy me now. Can we trade him to Arizona so he can cuddle with his best buddy every night??

WTF!!! Berk you are sounding more and more like an ASS... Where has the STros been the past 2 season and Jesus stop comparing us to 2005 WS year when we got blown out by the White Sox.. I thought that year was a fluke and that no way were going to win the WS but I thought we would win at least 1 game lol I was wrong.

Blown out? They didn't win a game, but every one was winnable. Lost two in the last inning and another 1-0. Far from a blow out.

Does that make it any better? 0 and 4 is 0 and 4.. And when you say 0 and 4 in the World Series that means you suck and never had a chance.

I get where you are going. We did have a chance, though. Even Peter Gammons said it the other day on ESPN that that was one of the closest series ever.

To say we suck and never had a chance is stupid.

Can we get back on the subject of bashing Berkman?

Yes. Tell me with a straight face the Astros wouldn't have gotten significantly worse pub had they lost each game by an average of 6 or 7 runs. That would have been a joke.

No, it means you got to the World Series. Check the scoreboard, bro: the Astros have one more NLCS in the past decade than the Braves and Dodgers, and just as many as the Mets.

I see your points guys I really do.. All valid but what is the end result you are wanting? to Win the WS or just make it there? When we got into the WS I was excited as the next guy bought flags for my car, jerseys for the kids but did I thnk we had a chance to win? NO Did I think we had chance to win 1 or 2 games Yes.. Now we are all bashing the past couple of years on the Astros and stating it wasnt going anywhere hence the excitement for Wades trades and moves.. Well alot and I mean alot of games we lost were by 1 Runs .. So does loosing by 1 run or 6 runs matters to me? maybe a little but the end result matters the most and a loss is a loss in my eyes.

I think Berkman's comments are unhelpful, but you guys are crushing him all out of proportion.

If he doesn't STFU anytime soon, I'm all for trading him. He's acting like his own personal feelings are above the interests of the team. That's not someone I want on my team.
