From the Pelicans perspective: AD's value is higher than Aldridge. He is 100% of New Orleans' present and future. In Aldridge, they get a jump shooting, streaky rebounding, mediocre defensive PF on a roster full of replacement level players. No way they do this trade, their position of need is EVERY position outside of PF. Aldridge has his value, for sure, but he needs a fit. From the Spurs perspective: They would absolutely do this trade; building around Davis and Kawhi would be the reset button they need after Duncan. The rest of the league would hate that.
If I'm the Spurs I'm getting on the phone to the Bulls to see just how much they really want Jimmy Butler.
dOH, you're right.. my brain was hung up on the LMA vs Davis comparison. Giving up Kawhi is still too much to ask of the Spurs; both teams would be trading their own foundations. That doesn't happen much, if at all, in the NBA.
WTF I just noticed that bottom headline the gift that keeps on giving. What were the Brooklyn Nets thinking when they did that trade with the Celtics? This has got to be one of the worst trades of all time ever in the history of any sport? Swap 1st round picks in 2017 AND they own their 2018 1st round pick AND they signed Jeremy Lin as their starting point guard? What else can they do wrong?
Spurs should trade him to Atlanta for Millsap straight up. From a basketball standpoint, it makes too much sense for San Antonio. From a comedic standpoint, I'd get League Pass just to see LMA and Howard piss eachother off.
He probably be going to Laker land where he could be the superstar, with ingram and russell developing to minor stars, and leading the way for the lakers new team.
If Aldridge is unhappy about not being the offensive focal point, why would Aldridge want to be traded to the Cavaliers?
I can see it plus Jackie and Zach are reputable. LMA is not a great passer which is essential to the Spurs offense. Duncan was an underrated passer. I bet Spurs would trade with an unexpected team like the Jazz. Rodney Hood and Heyward seem like Spurs like players. Boston with all their assets can't be ignored either. Hortford and LMA would be a experiment
