Any deal we make for LA directly will require both Parsons and Asik, as well as 3-4 other players/picks. Then we probably need to take back some salary, which is a problem as all of their locked up players are paid above $6.5 million and have value. Don't see a deal here, at least right now. Will probably take a 3 or 4 team trade.
What u mean LMA is not good enough to be the 2nd best player. Dude is good enough to be the #1 option on any team.
Would, love love love to make this trade, but the Rockets just dont have the assets right now. You'd have to use Parsons & maybe Asik in a 3 team deal. Im not sure if the team is willing to part with 1 of those guys if not both of them. If Aldridge was hitting free agency this Summer, you might even see the Rockets put this guy over Dwight Howard as their #1 option. He's that good, and is exactly what the Rockets need to be an elite team for years. The problem is in trade the Rockets dont have the leverage and the assets to compete with a team like Cleveland unless they are willing to part with Asik & Parsons and hope that they can get a quality center & SF elsewhere.
how about: Asik / T. Rob / Jones / Delfino / Brooks / White / Ohlbrecht and 2015 1st rounder or 2014 protected first rounder. for: Aldridge / freeland / Pavlovic + second rounder would that work? Por get 2 young PF's and a C with Vet SG/SF and Future First rounder. I think this should work. What do you guys think?
I want Dwight, but I hear this argument. People say it is better to have a dollar bill rather than 4 quarters, but LMA makes me wonder. Would he fit well enough in this offense (and is he getting the max?) to save us some money and have a deep team with a great 4 and defensive 5? I think getting Dwight is the right move 10 out of 10 times, and LMA would go great with him as part of a big three. That being said, if Dwight ended up elsewhere, I would still find it beneficial to go after LMA.
LMA is making $13.5 million this year and has two years left on his deal (I believe 2 years). I don't agree with Howard being the right move. He has an offensive skill set like Shaq, but he ain't Shaq. He can't step away from the basket and come playoff time teams will take advantage of that. In 3 games this year against Memphis he didn't even score over 10 points. You don't give a guy $20 million a year for 18-20 ppg...
I think at this point Parsons is practically untouchable. At this rate, he will develop into an allstar caliber player. Him, Harden, and Howard can be our big 3. One homegrown, one traded for, and one signed. The Houston Trinity.
This is precisely why if we fail to land Dwight Morey will load up with assets... We won't go silent into the night.
LaMarcus likes to party - used to see him on 6th Street just about every Thursday night back when he was at UT. Conversely, Portland has some of the worst nightlife of anywhere I've lived. Great brewpubs, but not much at all in the way of clubs, lounges, etc. That and it rains all the time, and there's not a lot of minorities.
From a rumored trade with the Cavaliers to a minor rumor circulating about a swap with the Clippers, the Blazers are clearly trying to see what they can get for Aldridge that will help them build around star guard Damian Lillard. One of those teams that could trade for him is the Chicago Bulls who have been thrust into the rumor mill more than once in the last week and now find themselves right back in the thick of a rumor that could shake things up. According to the Daily Herald in Chicago, Aldridge wants out of Portland and the Chicago Bulls are at the top of his wish list. Word is, Aldridge wants to escape from Portland’s rebuilding project and has made it known that he’d like to land in Chicago. The Orgeonian and Blazers beat writer John Canzano backed up this statement made in the Daily Herald and didn’t sound surprised that Aldridge would want out of Portland. That being said, Canzano made sure to mention that the Blazers will not be simply giving Aldridge away and will need to find a deal that blows them away before considering moving on from their star. Don’t worry — I don’t think Paul Allen is going to give Aldridge away. He’s been burned too many times before in trades. It would have to be a sweetheart deal, even lopsided, for him to pull the trigger with two years remaining on Aldridge’s contract. The caveat, of course, is the notion that Aldridge may have already told the Blazers he wants out. It’s interesting that Aldridge would name the Bulls as a landing spot but Chicago may not have what it takes to land him. As Canzano points out, the Blazers want a lot in return for Aldridge and Mike McGraw at the Daily Herald states that Portland wants Joakim Noah as part of a deal — something the Bulls will not consider. http://fansided.com/2013/06/27/lamarcus-aldridge-wants-to-be-traded-to-chicago-bulls/
I would agree with that if it was a decision on offense alone. He is a terror in the paint. If healthy, I would expect 20-22 and 13-14 along side being a defensive player of the year candidate. I know Asik is a great stopper, but you rarely have the ability to pair up great offense with great defense at the 5. Taking a chance on a healthy Dwight is the right move in my mind, and I know that may be just my opinion. Back to LMA: what would he be looking to resign for? If we have him, there is no way we can offer him much more than that I would imagine.
Beverly, TRob, Delfino, DMo = Aldridge Then we can bring in Sergio Llull to fight for starting spot with Lin. Clutch Vet, love Beverly but Aldridge is beast. Perfect spacer for Rockets offense. We watch him like 4 times a year, I know you all know how almost unstoppable Aldridge is. He's a soft Sheed. Plus hell learn post moves from McHale so he's pretty much gonna be unguardable.
Apparently we have a LOT of people who SEVERELY overrated LMA's game here. He's an average defender at best. He has no low post game and no three point shot, which means his offense is built around one of the worst shots in basketball, the mid-range jumper. And, while he is very good at making that shot, he is not ELITE at it, which is a huge problem when your offense doesn't have anything else to offer. If LMA was really good enough to be the #1 option, or even #2 option, on a championship team, the Blazers would have at least made the playoffs last season. It's not like LMA didn't have any help, between Lillard and Batum he had a solid supporting cast. The fact that they had a losing record is illustrative of the fact that LMA is not as good as people on ClutchFans seem to think he is. Does that mean I don't want LMA? Well, sure, he would be a great addition to the team. But I'd rather have Dwight any day of the week and twice on Sunday. But if we could somehow get both, I'd be all for it.
