Again, why do Clippers want to take on Cato's contract? Replace Kandi? Come on they don't care about winning anyway (many said this). So why do they need to take on a big contract to replace someone? If Odom wants to leave Clippers, they would let him walk for nothing. Simple as this. They are not going to take on any big contracts.

It's difficult to put together a "sensible" trade here because people here have different tastes, perspectives, aspirations, views for this team. Not everyone agrees that we need a Point Forward, and not everyone agrees that we should replace Griffin with Brand. Not everyone agrees that Moblye has, probably, the best contract in the league based on production. Some people think we should offer Steve in a bid to get Brand.

So basically, we can specualte about what we need, but no one will ever agree.

Of course, being Rockets fans, none of us know the true market value of our players. This is why there are so many trades that go down, even though tons of people oppose them. GM's and head coaches are humans too and have their own prefferences. One man's garbage is another man's gold.

    carayip,

They can't. If they don't take on any contracts this summer, they will be too far below the cap, and they don't have an MLE.

By your logic, the Clippers will play their coach next season.

I think it's more to do with us usually overrating what our players can do and underrate what other teams' players can do which make some trade ideas less than sensible. But it's okay. We are homers.

They can easily resign 1 of their all FAs (either 1 year or long-term) and then let all others walk. They would still have a team to play ball. They have loads of rookies.

It's not about playing ball, it's about league rules. They wouldn't have enough salary, and don't have an MLE, meaning they need to sign one of their FA's big, or sign n trade them, whatever.

BTW, carayip, you perfectly illustrated why trades won't ever work on message boards. You think we overrate our players, when in fact, most people think you underrate our players, and there are many like you. Too many views to agree.

I agree that Sterling is cheap and more concerned with the bottom line than with winning. The thing is that with all the heat his team has caught, and is going to catch this summer if he only re-signs his FAs to 1 year deals, Sterling HAS to do something. We aren't talking about Mo Taylor's or Derek Anderson's LAC is giving up, Brand is an All-Star and Odom/Miller/Maggette are all potential All-Stars (not to mention Kandi being one of a few solid bigs). The repurcusions of letting all of these guys go would be the end of the franchise. Not even Billy Crystal would go see a Clipper game. The point is that the Clips have to do something or Sterling might actually lose revenue and force the NBA's hand.

My guess is that Miller and Kandi are gone for sure, the Clips will try to keep Brand/Odom. Who knows if they will, but I think that the Clips are going to have to do something in terms of keeping/acquiring talent. I just wonder what the Rox might have to do get Odom. About Brand, he is looking for a max deal and I dont think the Rox are looking to sign such a contract before Rice's deal goes off the books. If Brand signs a 1 year deal look for us to go after him once we have EG figured out.

The Clippers shouldn't keep Miller and Odom. Either the pure PG or the Point-Forward.

Since Odom is Sterling's favourite, I think that Brand and Odom will stay. Richardson is there. They need a C and a PG. Miller should get them that.

Don't they have Jaric to play PG and some rookie centers plus Wang ZhiZhi?

I think Clippers would try to match Brand and Odom and then let Miller and Kandi walk. Then they would still have a fairly low-cost team to play. They're not about winning anyway.

Didn't we allready talk about this Odom thing some time ago?
What I understood from it was that he needed the ball in his hands and that we allready have too many players like that(Francis,Mobley,Yao next year...)

    1. Rockets fans are obsessive with Clippers players.

    2. We propose trades who benefit us but not the other team. And many think that Clippers are a club you can rip.

    Carayip-
1-The Clips are a team full of talent in the same age range as our franchise players.

2-The Clips are going to lose many of these players for nothing, why not try to tempt them into taking something rather than nothing?

I think Rockets should try getting WZZ, he is cheap but good, he and Yao also played together a long time for china national team. 6M for 3 years is nothing for Rockets.

Lamar Odom is NOT a shooter. But he is still very athletic and better than James Posey. If the Rockets can afford him, then they should get him! He's tall. He's fast. He's good. He's wonderful!

We should get Lamar Odom and Jon Barry or some other shooter!

If we are able to get Odom, it would improve this team dramatically. 60 plus wins easy for the next 3 seasons.

The salary cap space that the plethora of free agents will leave behind is more valuable than any garbage laden long term contracts we would pass off on them in a trade.
