I’m not saying Mills is better than Jackson. That’s not the case in my opinion. My thing is, I think we’re more than a quarterback away still. And even if Jackson is better than Mills, he still isn’t enough to get this team into contention (not sure any are). So might as well keep going with Mills at the cheap price rather than paying 40 mil a year to stay mediocre. Either mills can break us out once we get another draft under the belt, or we will get a new star qb in the draft.

Lamar Jackson will get worse with age as his wheels get slower. I think his best years are in the rear view mirror. The league has solved for him from a scheme perspective -- especially in the playoffs.

Davis Mills at a rookie contract, over Lamar Jackson with a huge deal.
How Texans got better now? texans still havent get a better TE than last year, we still have old RBs, and 1 rookie, we dont know if he is going to work or not. we dont know Collins is going to get better, Metche coming from injury, Stingley coming from Lisfranc injury?
There is hope we can win 3-4 more games. Even if Mills balls out this year, we could still be out of the playoffs, because there is no talent.

Also, every media member gives the Ravens an "A" in draft and texans gets B or C in the draft, so after the draft media thinks Ravens got better, than last year, and Texans not so much. People think Hamilton and Linderbaum are going to be better than Stingley and Green.

so according to some sites, Ravens got the best draft class in years, but still the Texans have more weapons?

It's objective fact that Davis Mills was a better QB in his rookie season than Lamar Jackson was in his 4th season.

Based on that, it would be REALLY stupid to give a guy who has gotten worse every season since his one fluke season a massive payday.....which is why the Ravens won't do it.

The Texans are MUCH better off just sticking with Mills and seeing if he can be something.

There's not really a valid argument otherwise.

This entire thread is a perfect example of

but they face Green Bay (they lost because they decided to go for 2 instead of going OT) Tyler scored 30 pts against Green Bay
the Rams (they were winning 19-14 with a minute left and defense couldnt keep them from scoring with less than a minute remaining)
Steelers, they went to OT, and lost
the only win was against the Bears.
and were 1-3 when Huntley started the game, but for a few plays, they could have been 4-0.

And the next game after that when Lamar Jackson returns was crushed by the Bengals.
