Was reading that on the Lakers message board. Wonder if this crew was looking for it?

Maybe they were betting on it.

    1) Artest flopped.
    2) This is nothing new for Kobe, it's in his blood to be clutch it seems. I hate him, but I respect him. He is a highly skilled and cold-blooded basketball player.

Look, I hate the flop too (maybe it was a trip), but ANY push off is unnatural imo. It doesn't matter if it creates 1 foot of space or 1 inch of space. When you're using your off arm to leverage against the defender, you're cheating/offensive fouling. It's because you're not good enough to step back fast, fake hard, or fade hard, or not tall enough to get a shot off, or you're cheating, or getting lazy. Just my opinion, but as a former ref, it's all about unfair advantages, and this is a clear case.

A natural off-arm movement example I can think of is a hook shot, where your off arm can go straight up to protect your vertical space. Every player offensive and defensive is entitled to their vertical space. So if you're releasing a hook shot with your right hand, your left arm can be between the defenders hands and the bucket, as long as it's straight up. If the off arm extends to interfere with defensive arm, then it's an offensive foul.

I'm not a fan of letting offensive players shove or push their defenders off, but we have some crappy precedents for calling these sorta things.^^^

I think the Kobe double dribble was the most obvious.

Look at this post. Great stuff.
When I do a hook shot off of one leg, I usually extend my left arm up.
When I do a hook off of two feet, for some reason, i grab my chest or stomach or something.
