Peirce gets away with that off hand often but Artest just exaggerated the contact to the point where the refs had to blow the whistle. It should of been a no call imo.

He was thinking that he should go to his go to step back push off move.

I was really happy to see him called for it. IMO, he gets away with that way too often.

it wasnt a flop. if you watched the replay pierce stepped on artests food which had him off balance already and pierce pushed him which resulted in artest flying back.

Sasha Vujabitch is getting on the level of Jack Haley as far as annoying sidekicks...everytime I see his mug he's licking Kobe's nuts.

It's not looking good for the Celtics. Losing to the Lakers at home when Kobe has a surpar game is not a promising sign for them.

Kobe settles for too many jumpers. He shouldve attacked more.

He didn't mention LeBron or Kobe, you moron. He said Artest flopped and the foul shouldn't have been called on Pierce. You should work on your reading comprehension.

I actually think it was the right call, even though Artest did flop.

Artest either flopped or tripped, but it was definitely a push off, and as another poster stated earlier, it's a move that Paul Pierce has done many times. It's his push-off step back jumper. He usually gets away with it, so that's why he does it.

I say "gets away with it" because to me, it creates an unfair advantage by using his arm to push the defender away to create space to get the shot off. If the refs continue to call that foul, which is what they should do, Pierce would then only have the step back to create space, which is a harder shot because the defender will be closer unless you have a great hard drive fake. Or Pierce can fade further back to get his shot off.

Whatever the case will be, I'm just glad the refs caught something for once.

Other illegal plays that don't get called nearly enough:

    -Utah Jazz off-ball holds/grabs
    -Dwayne Wade carrying the ball
-Pushing fouls against the body near the basket especially when a big man is making move...refs tend to pay attention to where the ball is released only

funny.. the thread title is called "Lakers Win on Kobe Jump Shot" yet other than the OP every single post is about did Pierce commit a offensive foul and did Artest flop...

lets just give credit where its due.. kobe is amazing. I have been watching the lakers this season every once in awhile and I dont think Kobe ever misses in those situations..

All players get away with a push off move.

Yea, Pierce did obviously foul Artest, no debate needed.
Kobe was garbage til he made that gamewinner, and that one wasn´t too difficult to make.

Since when was Bruce Bowen an ESPN analyst? I'm watching him talk about the game on Sportscenter. he looks goofy wearing a bowtie.

I honestly think he wouldn't have had a bucket if he took it in and the refs weren't going to blow their whistles a second time to bail the Lakers out, the C's interior defense in the paint is too good.

a foul is a foul is a foul is a foul. If he had to sell it hard to get the call then I have no problem with that.

Either way, Artest is not a flopper. And PP did extend his arm.

Bad Call IMO. There was an extension of the arm that can be seen all the time in the NBA. If thats a foul, then Ron Artest using his arm to get to the basket on the play before was foul. I mean he extended his arm.
