I think they'll do just enough to get the 8th spot. Kind of excited to see how Nash and Gasol will play with no Kobe in the 1st half. And as a big Kobe fan, I really hope he doesn't rush back from the injury.
Surprised he took the minimum. Would have thought he would have gotten the type of deal Corey Brewer got a couple years ago for half of someone's MLE.

as I recollect, team (Minnie?) had to PAY a first rd pick to get someone to take his rookie contract...
Cari Champion: "A happy Monday to everyone, our top story, the Lakers sign Wes Johnson for the vet minimum, Stephen A I'll start with you - does this make the Lakers a contender?"
Chris Kaman sucks. Nick Young is ok, but is really just a slightly more efficient JR Smith. Wesley Johnson? LOL. Complete bust.
He might have gotten offered more than the minimum, but chose to go to the Lakers due to there being more of a chance for minutes over there. With Metta amnestied and Kobe injured (and who really knows when he'll be back), there should be plenty of opportunities for a wing player to at least compete for minutes-- and thus a chance to get a much larger paycheck a year from now.

They have essentially traded Dwight Howard, Earl Clark and Metta World Peace for Chris Kaman, Nick Young and Wesley Johnson.
