no. in light of the response of the fans on THIS board to yao's performance in the last game against the Jazz, i think he's speculating the fans response if yao had amare's performance tonight, which is even worse than yao's against the Jazz. I think he's comparing the different responses of the fans to the two different performances of the same player, Yao.
Screw kobe, trade his b****azz!!!! He started to whine against the rockets and now against the sun, he's a team player???? What a poser!!!!
Did you see and hear the rant? Maybe they will show it on SportsCenter and you will understand. He was WAY out of line screaming (among other things) to the ref sarcastically what a "great teacher" PJ must be and telling PJ, "we play you 3 more times" during the timeout. And according to the post above, he continued the rant in the press conference after the game. D'Antoni may not be a classless person in general, but his behavior last night was surely classless. I've been watching the NBA for a very long time and can't remember when something like that happened before.
seeing as how the Rockets won by 2 against the Lakers, and that crazy shot that Luke Walton scored for us, I don't see how you can make that statement.
Here are the comments, and Jackson's responses, I got it from the ESPN board: After the game, D'Antoni was asked about that small feud with Phil. His response: "Yeah, I was pretty upset," D'Antoni said. "I thought he disrespected our players. But he likes to play the mind games and that's fine. He might want to try to do it in playoff time when we bust them every year." Phil responded: "He wasn't thinking straight. That's all," Jackson said of D'Antoni. "He'd understand that if he thought about it for a second. I think he thought I was trying to showboat or grandstand. But when you have a mandatory timeout coming in a minute and a half or something like that, just get it out of the way." I guess D'Antoni forgot that Phil has 10 championship rings and he doesn't have squat.
And seeing as how the Rockets were blowing them out until the ROCKETS slacked off, I don't see how YOU can make the statement.
so if Fisher had made that three instead of a 2 and Battier clanked on that 3-pt shot and we loss, somehow we would have proved that we are better than the Lakers?
Here are two incidents... Last week, Sarver threw out three fans who were chiding him during a game against Denver. The three turned out to be Colorado Rockies pitchers Shawn Chacon, Brian Fuentes and Javier Lopez. A local newspaper photographer caught up with the three in a parking garage where they had been dropped off after they got the heave-ho and they said they had merely been rooting for their team (the Nuggets). Others seated in the area said that they had heard no cursing but the baseball players, who called Sarver "Suit" a couple times. At one point Sarver told them: "This is my house." Sarver said that the three had violated the team's policy of good behavior. This from the same guy who waved his arms like a chicken and clucked at San Antonio's Popovich for not playing Duncan and Manu Ginobili against the Suns. http://www.jsonline.com/story/index.aspx?id=315122 Throwing someone out because he cant stand heckling and then proclaiming "This is my house." Sure is classy! An owner accusing the past champions for being chicken and then doing the chicken dance. Oh how classy! Ass whopping was in order in the playoffs by the same Spurs. D'Antoni whining about Yao's selection as all star. Classy! And then D'Antoni's action on the court yesterday and then his comment in post game interview. Classssssssssssssyyy... Question is, where haveyou been JuzBleezy?
This game I think was a very small statement game. Even though, it's early in season. 1. The Lakers may not be as bad as everyone makes them out to be, they did almost come back beat the Rockets. 2. Phoenix defense and rebounding SUCKS, seriously. 3. Another thing, I think I mentioned in another post is that Fisher creates serious match-up problems for the Suns. Nash is just not a good enough defender for him, and usually struggles against him....this goes all the way back to his Dallas days and Fisher's first stint with Lakers. THis is a guy who has slowed down the likes of A.I. and Jason Kidd in the Finals. He knows how to play all-pro PG and hit clutch shots. For Nash, as great as his offense, he is a big liability on defense against any team with an above average backcourt. 4. Phil Jax running up the score board...New England Patriot's Style ... they were up by 28 or 30 points and still hitting 3's. Well, not really cause Kobe was on the bench by the point. I was happy it was against the Suns, cause I really hate them. 5. Back to Phoenix again, I know it could just be slow start, but at the same time. These are same problems that plagued them in past, but they had very fast and athletic team. Probably the most so in a few seasons ago, but now they are one of the oldest teams in league. Seattle was running circles around them other night, and the Lakers gave them a flat out beat down. Both young athletic teams, who probably play better defense than Suns and can probably run with them. You could say there shots weren't falling last night, but if you are down by 30 something points coming off and a game you almost lost to lottery team from last year. I wouldn't say it's simple flick of switch. 6. Yao would had his behind in kabob, flamed, burnt, and eviserated, if he had 7 points and 1 reb for having those numbers in 3 quarters. Let's talk not even talk about th whole game. We would've seen about 5 or 6 threads calling his head and trading for another lesser big man. All while the team could just have bad game. Same goes for T-Mac, I saw alot of it last year when had some games in lower teens. "It's time to trade, Mcgrady." Ridiculous. I saw a few Suns fans post another site and I have yet to see poster calling for a Nash, Amare, or even Diaw trade or a resignation from D'Antoni.
I think the Sun's air of invincibility is slowly slipping away. Don't get me wrong, there still a great team, but they don't instill the same fear they had 2-3 seasons back when they were firing on all cylinders.
It doesn't help that Amare is sitting out against the Cavs tonight because of a sore knee. No wonder the Spurs keep winning titles. Every team standing in their way either self implodes(Fakers, Mavs) or gets screwed by injuries or suspensions(Suns).
You have to give credit where credit is due though. As much as I hate the Spurs, they have enjoyed amazing consistency throughout the years since Duncan has entered the league. With Amare still a question mark in health, I wonder if the Suns are regretting that they did not increase the offer in the Garnett sweep stakes - As he is putting up MVP type numbers the last two games in Boston.
I think it's a downright joke with all this garbage about "running up the score." Here's a thought- you don't want them scoring? How about something called DEFENSE?? If I'm a coach, I would take every situation as a "learning opportunity" and practice different things- lineup changes, defensive strategies, etc.- during the blow-out period. If you focus on what YOU need to do, you don't have time to worry about the other team and nonsense things like scoring too much. If the other team is playing dirty, that's a different story. But running up the score? Ridiculous point for an argument.
Co-sign. The Suns will still win 55 - 60 games this year, but I don't see them get any better. It's almost given that most teams have gotten an idea or at least simple blue print to beat them. 1) Play with decent bigs who can rebound, play ok defense, and score in the paint. 2) Force them to shot a bunch 3 pointers, and if they start to get hot , just contest them. 3) Out run them....hard to do a few seasons ago, but now you will see alot of sub .500 or barely above .500 teams with younger rosters, run them up the court, like Lakers and SOnics did the last few nights. 4) On defense, they're average at best. Although Marion and Raja are both good defenders, I don't think they can really shut people down. Most of us already know the story about Nash and Amare. Don't get me wrong they have a defensive schemes, but with their line-up they are not going to beat a team with good quick front line or a team that has good balance. This team has lost Joe Johnson (all-star), a pretty good Quentin Richardson, still adequete Jim Jackson, and super Amare
