Never did get to see her face. :( I wonder if she knew she was going to be showing her cleavage to millions for the whole game.

On NBA.COM, every caption has the lakers with the ball in their hand.

As a rule of thumb, I think they should not show any high light reels or front page pictures of the losing team shooting good shots or having the ball in their hands (unless they are getting schooled)

Yeah it was crazy I was thinking the same thinking those are some nice fakes right behind PJ. You saw her face briefly during some pan outs of the laker bench she was a nice looking blonde with shorter hair.

I'm looking forward to the next game.:D

Not so sure but I recall seeing a pair of nice boobs behind Phil before this game. I don't know if they are the same pair. Hopefully they'll turn up next time and let me catch her face. Maybe the NBA is arranging extra appetizers for the global fans? ;)

Plus, JVG's task of getting to the finals would have meant beating the Lakers, Spurs and Timberwolves. Does anyone really think Larry Brown could have accomplished that? Not me.

Nothing. Some managements are prudent, some are aggressive. The owner of Piston clearly has deeper pocket than Les, and Dumars is more aggressive than CD.

The point is: it is not fair to compare JVG and LB based on the performance of these two teams.

Winning the Stanley Cup will do that.

I don't agree there, 14 of the last 20 championships went to the team who won game 1. :)

A lot of people came off pretty dumb in this post (Lakers sweep, Detriot sucks, even the Rockets play defense as well as Detriot).

You can't judge defense just on FG%. Houston had one of the worst opponents 3% and TOs forced, while Detriot was one the best in both. Houston also was about last in the league in steals, and Detriot was #1 in blocks. So while their FG% are close, Detriot is taking away 3 point looks and providing constant pressure by rarely having to do quick doubles. In sum, if you watched both teams there is no question Detriot's defense is vastly more difficult to contend with (captain obvious) but it is born out statistically as well.

When you look at the big picture and what they can do to take you out of your rythum, Detriot has the best defense in the league, followed by SA and than Minn. The Rockets defense honestly isn't in the same ballpark as these teams.

This is not close to the same Lakers team that cruised through Phily (though these games were often close) and the Nets. 1) Shaq is significantly more worn and cannot exert himself on both ends over a full game like he used to. 2) the Lakers chemistry is not near as good (Fox, Horry and a younger Fisher not only were good team players but fit their roles to a T). Secondly, Detriot presents different challenges. They have 2 guards who can score, and waves of players to throw out you.

This is not your invinceable Laker team. It took a Fisher miracle to keep a game 7 from happening in SA and if Cassell and Hudson were healthy who knows if they get by Minnesotta. As long as either Rip and Billips is on fire Detriot is tough to beat because you will not out hustle, out work or out defense that team.

I am not about to say Detriot is now favored because of game 1, but if they take the game tonight the shaky rudder on the Lakers might just implode. I'd love to see it.

If Detroit wins the title this year, Davidson will have two championship teams in the same year, something more impressive than this year's U Conn.

As hakeem once said. If they going to give you 50, you take 50. Portland was out 3-1. I expect Shaq and Kobe to take 50 tonight and shake things up. You have to double these players or they will kill you. It will be interesting to see what Detroit will do to counter in the second half, or how they counter in game 3. I expect a Laker explosion by the big two.

well that duo had 59 points in game 1. unless shaq and kobe drop 40 each (which ain't impossible...) there's no way that they can do it themselves. it's up to everyone else. Shaq and Kobe have done their part. Karla and Granny has to show up.

I don't think the Pistons have any chance of winning this series. But no matter what happens, that "Nobody pushes us around in our building ... Turn this thing around" video at the beginning of Game 2 was worth the whole thing. Nailbiting Laker fans begging their team to go 1-1 at home against the East! I love it.
