and then john stockton walks by and kicks him in the face, saying "b**** i told ya you should of retired"
An even better ending. Detroit down by 1 on their last posession, a missed shot with 1 second to go. Malone and Wallace are contesting for the rebound, and Malone accidentally tips it in.
This thread is funny, especially reading posts from people who said it would be a 4 game sweep for the Lakers. I know the east has not proven itself to be trustworthy in the finals, but I really think this Pistons team is different from the others. Now with me saying that, watch the damn Lakers win the next 4 games.
Classic. Btw, did anyone notice that the Mailman really doesn't deliver on Fridays? Where was the guy who killed us with those jumpers?
I love it, my dream will happen, the spurs don't win again and the beeatch malone won't get a ring, sweet.
Phil got outcoached out of his pants last night. That was about as well prepared for a game as I've seen an underdog team in a big playoff game be prepared.
I thought the same thing. The Pistons were using so many perfect screens to get the Lakers lack luster on D. Also, their single coverage on Shaq was brilliant. Let the big guy get his 30pts. The final score won't be 30pts, so let him get his numbers but do not allow the role players to have a good night. The Rockets messed up there, we allowed Malone to be open etc. Great game 1. I enjoyed it. Go Pistons!
nice job of finishing off my thoughts about the constint hand jobs the networks seems to give the Laker 24/7 Phizz3l makes the steal and sets-up a nice alley for Mr. Mooch to flush down the rim.
I went into this game saying that Detroit's only chance to win would rest in the hands of one man: Larry Brown. He would have to be a damn good coach (a LOT better than Phil) to win this game. And he did. Though I think JVG is a great coach, I gotta say, my first choice woulda been Brown. And I was wrong about something: I said it was unreasonable for us to expect JVG to take us to a championship in his first year coaching us. I was wrong - LB did it. And, I gotta disagree with you guys. I don't want to see Malone lose it for the fakers in the last shot of a 7 game series. I don't want it to be so close. I don't want them to even have the opportunity. As long as we're fantasizing, here's mine: Game2: The Lakers relax again, thinking that the Pistons only intended to 'steal one game' in LA to re-gain homecourt. They underestimate LB and the Pistons who intend to fight for every game, unlike the lackadaisical Lakers. (By, the way Shaq, it's "lackadaisical", not "laxadaisical" you big, stupid lump of meat). Detroit shocks the Lakers and takes game 2. Game3: Down two, the Lakers head to Detroit thinking they can fight their way back. They decide to wake up and give their all to this game, but soon discover that it just isn't good enough. Though Shaq and Kobe both get a lot of points, they fail to involve their teammates and Detroit smothers Malone, Payton, Fisher, George, and the rest of the team. Lakers lose. Game4: Down three, and feeling it slip away, the Lakers start to argue amongst themselves (again). Shaq and Kobe start pointing fingers (again) at each other and at their struggling teammates. Karl gets angry and frustrated about this, and tries to take over the game, only to discover that he is no match for the Wallaces. Their spirit broken, the Lakers give up in the fourth quarter and the Pistons cruise to a 22 point victory Post-season: Realizing that he is too old and slow, and can't even win a ring with Kobe and Shaq, Malone gives up and retires. After fighting with Shaq, and being too big for his breeches, Kobe doesn't re-sign with LA, and instead moves elsewhere (where his ego and salary become too big to handle). After scoring 30+ ppg and still losing, Shaq gains too much weight in the summer and loses his step, removing his status as the best center in the NBA. Phil Jackson flakes out and leaves the sports scene entirely to join a buddhist cult. -- droxford
I still have my prediction going....Pistons in 7 (1 down, 3 to go). The Fakers are going to have their run at a few games, but the Wallace boys and company are going to kick ass. Billups is going to run all over Payton and that f**king Fisher. Let Kobe and Shaq score the 75 points by themselves. It's those other rugrats we have to worry about: - Karl "Motherf**ka Jazzhole" Malone - Gary "The Catcher's Mitt" Payton - Derek "Whining Sorry Ass" Fisher - Devean "Crybaby" George - Kareem "Fools Gold" Rush - Rick "Uppercutted by Doug Christie" Fox - Sloth "The Commy" Medvend**ko...whatever the hell his name is And what the hell is Horace Grant, Byron Russell, and Jamal Sampson doing on this team? He really got a hook up w/ Phil Jackson to just chill w/ this team while riding Shaq and Kobe's back. That punk Grant needs to retire. Russell was a killer against the Rockets, but damn, he must really suck now since he can't contribute on this team. And Sampson, who the f**k is he? Ahh....feel much better.
Remind you of anything??? The Pistons used to do this EXACT same thing to beat the Bulls year in and year out. Let MJ get his...attack him and hit him hard when he drives...but let him get his...and FREEZE EVERYONE ELSE OUT. And every year, MJ would have his 30ppg....and his teammates wouldn't have jack. And the Pistons would advance. Brilliant strategy then by Chuck Daly. Brilliant strategy now. I love team basketball. And last night was actually a well-played game...not exactly like watching the Pistons/Lakers of the late 80's...but still, better than most of what I've seen of the playoffs this year so far.
Considering the defensive strategy, the Lakers lost because they didn't give Shaq the ball enough. He shot 13-16. He shot 8-12 on free throws. Why did they run a play for anyone else with Shaq dominating so much? How different would the results have been if it was Shaq shooting 27 times and Kobe shooting 16? Not that I'm complaining.
You may say Brown is better than JVG, but it is more like Piston management is way better than ours, and Piston owner is richer than Les. Overall they have a better and deeper rooster than us, and they improved it a lot after acquiring Brown.
[ and Piston owner is richer than Les. [/B][/QUOTE] yeah, Les is a cheap b*stard. A real owner would have brought in Drexler, Barkley and Pippen if give the chance.
Do you think there is a tendency to give Kobe a free rein because of his contract situation? ......but Phil and Kobe aren't exactly pals, so why didn't Phil dictate the play calling more stridently? Does Phil fear that if he loses complete communication with Kobe by ignoring him in play calling, that the internal conflicts beneath the surface will bubble up to the top?
