I asked that question last year and I believe Tim said they donate it all to charity. Not sure though.........
you want to know whats great about this game the lakers got the exta people in double figures, something they've been complaining about all series long. there were the same number of team fouls for detroit and the lakers, and even towards the end when the lakers were blatently fouling the pistons the refs didnt call anything. so they cant use refs in this game, the pistons did shoot more free-throws, but only 6 more AND THEY STILL GOT BLOWN OUT there is no excuse for this game, some people may say malone didnt play, but slava today was more much effective than malone was in game 4 oh man this is great oh so great Darko 1 Karla + Payton = 0 Darko Wins
I may have to agree with you there. It was very satisfying on may levels, from seeing the underdog win, to seeing the media "experts" embarrassed, to seeing Karla and G.P. denied, to seeing Kobe and Shaq humiliated, while at the same time seeing a gritty, hard-working, defensive-minded team effort, led by one of the best coaches in NBA history (like him or not, he is). I don't know about you, but I'm smilin'!
If what he showed is what he has, he doesn't even belong to first round. He had 1 missed open 5-footer, 2 missed FT, 1 TO, in 2 minutes!
well it is detroit...i'm sure the rioting and looting are no different tonight than any other night...
one thing that i notice is that Dorko sucks even in garbage time. the guy misses open 2 foot jumpers and that play where he got stripped. i know its garbage time but the guy acts like he doesnt even care.
the thing with darko right now is that he probably feels he really isnt part of the team just yet. think about it. the only time he ever plays are when they are blowouts, either way and the game is out of reach. there is no meaningful minutes there, everyone on the court at that time is just trying to waste the clock, if it were up to the coaches i am sure they would be fine after a point to say ok, lets just end the game playnig another 3 minutes will change the score of the game but not the outcome. furthermore, being played only garbage time in the regular and playoff was frustrating to him mentally. think about it, he probably felt he was like more of a novelty item on this team than a real player. 'oh we're up 20 with 2 minutes to go, DARKO!! come in please so the crowd can cheer again over the #2 pick we have' i am sure that didnt really sit to well with him mentally. you could even see in the trophy presentations and the game, while everyone else was jumping up smiling and cheering after the game was won, he was sorta just still just standing there clapping high fiving and all but did not show the same emotion. he pumped his fist up a bit when they handed the trophy to ben who was urging the crowd on. all that shows me is that he never really was truly part of the team. look at the pistons roster every single player except darko played some, even if they were few, MEANINGFUL minutes during the regular season and playoffs. he avg the fewest minutes on the team during both reg and playoffs and all those minutes were garbage minutes. how can you then blame a guy, who was supposed to be a big impact player for the future, not even playing at all? i under the whole 'detroit has a great team he shouldnt be messing with the chemistry' part during the finals and playoffs but there could have been times easily during the regular season where larry brown could have inserted Darko in and gave him like 10-12 real minutes a game and helped him out. so now when he gets in games he feels like he is useless and just really doesnt care. He's even expressed his frustration about it and even said that next season he has to play, seriously play or he will want to leave there will be no excuse for next season <--- pretty much his exact words from the inside stuff special on the pistons. Give Darko time, euro players have taken longer to develop to stars just like high school players and he is just 18, he has years of playing time ahead of him. I mean i am sure joe dumars knew what he was thinking when he drafted him, I still think Darko can be a special player in the future, give him some time.
AHHHH....life is so freaking great. The Failman and the Player formerly known as the Glove may now retire ringless. and the media Faker asskissers were proved TOTALLY WRONG!!! I've never really had a second favorite NBA team before....I thnk I will adopt the Pistons... Great job Pistons..
I concur. The Pistons are now my second favorite team. Complete dominance of the Media over hyped darlings. I love this game! lol, gotta love that Fisher graphic on this thread. Just, a beautiful ending. I think I'm teary eyed.
You know what makes this sooo sweet, is that the only thing the lakers can think about winning next year is the lottery
EVEN IF DORKO PLAYED LIKE HE DIDNT CARE, IM SURE PEOPLE ARE GIVING HIM A MORE OPTIMISTIC VIEW THAN THEY GAVE YAO WHEN HE FIRST GOT HERE. THE HIPOCRACY!!!(SP?)
Tonight he looks so lost on the court, couldn't grab the ball, couldn't shoot FTs, at one point he was throwing the ball wildly out of bounds.
Joe Dumars deserves the benefit of doubt for the Darko pick. He obviously has a plan for team building and executes it well. It takes vision and gut. Congrats to Joe Dumars (great GM), Larry Brown (great coach) and the Detroit Pistons (great team)!
