Malone and payton work really well together. I can't imagine what it'll be like when Kobe comes back.

The key will be Phil allowing Payton to do this thing. This is the first time in Phil's coaching career that he has a PG worth a crap. The best PG he's ever had was BJ Armstrong.

Kobe and GP in the backcourt is sick. Mailman and Shaq inside is just as sick.

LA has arguably the best outside and inside duo in the NBA.

Fortson is useless. I think Mavs should start Jamison next time

Doesn't look like they really need Kobe, if you can fathom that thought. Injury free year = new regular season win record?

The assists (Lakers) are just amazing. 9 from Payton and 9 from MALONE? And 5 from Shaq too. That's the difference between veteran players and young stars (on Mavs).

But Mavs are just chicken-****. At least their coach is. They threw in the tower with 10 minutes left and 15 points behind. That's not too far away isn't it? But they just gave up and sent in the scrubs.

Looks like Steve and Mobes aren't the best overall backcourt in the West anymore.

This team is going to be special like the 86 Celtics who were just as loaded. They all are top tier defensive players. Also, they all can finish. They know if they pass the rock, they will get the assist. It also doesn't hurt that all the players have been to the finals before. Talk about knowing how to win games in the clutch.

I doubt this team will lose more than 10 games this year including the playoffs. However 4 of those losses will be to the Rockets.:D

    Payton 21/7/9 pts/rebs/assists
    Malone 15/10/9 pts/rebs/assists
    O'Neal 16/9/5 pts/rebs/assists

And if you add in Kobe, that's four guys who could rack up a triple-double on any given night. How long before TWO guys get triple-doubles in the same game? Has this ever happened before?

the Fakers looked good and it's only the first game so they'll probably have even better chemistry as the year goes on, but....
no one mentioned that Devean George played awesome. I even saw Luke Walton hit a trey. Devean George won't be shooting 7-9 too often.

Lakers looked good because Dallas looked horrible. There is ZERO D. Last year at last they attempted to put D somewhere.

Spurs looked horrible too. They simply missed DRob. Looks like this year the west is going to decided between Lakers and Rockets

    Yao vs Shaq
    Cato vs Malone
    Jackson vs D George
    Mobley vs Kobe
    Francis vs Payton

    Really good match up!
