He didn't complain. He said the lakers would have wiped the floor with the kings if Kobe was healthy. Thats just talking smack. He's just saying that the Kings played the series of their life and it still wasn't good enough to beat the Lakers with less than a 100% Kobe.
King lost game not because of offical, it is because of Webber scared to death to try even wants the ball, Peja and Christy are scared and shoot air balls after air balls, other Kings can not make free throws in game 7 when its count the most. remember, before last yr, Kings even did not make to the final at all...how can they say they are one of the greatest team..Lakers will beat King again this yr, unless Kings trade Webber . by the way, if u say Kobe is sick, but at least he played..Peja did not even play, then I thought, that is why Bibby got more shot and actually makes King a better team.
I completely agree. The officiating was horrible in spots there I agree with people saying that, BUT that's not what cost the Kings in that series, several players having bad games (like Doug Christie), and the Kings inability to hit FTs cost them. If Doug Christie plays just decently, and the Kings hit their FTs they're off to the NBA Finals, there's not a doubt in my mind about that. It takes mental toughness to execute those things though and that's why the Lakers are the champions.
Oh yes, of course. One of their two All-Stars was injured, that helps them. Peja is the best shooter in the league. He was a bad shooter in the series because he was trying to come back on a severely sprained ankle which he didn't recover from until weeks after the season (I know this from reports in the Sacramento Bee). See how many 23-footers YOU can hit on a sprained ankle and get back to me.
well, I thought Peja just like to be other's b****.. last yr, when he was healthy, he was shut down by the russian in utla..Karelenko? (not sure about the spelling), then the yr before, he was shut down by shawn marion and then by Fox.. remind me if he ever had a good series in the playoff..
Oh yeah, last year and the year before... YEARS WHEN HE WASN'T AN ALL-STAR. I could just as soon talk about how Tariq Abdul-Wahad completely shut down Kobe in his third year.
i wasn't trying to say you or kings fans are whinning babies. but i've heard that argument so many times, with every sport, and every team. and i'm getting bored with it, i don't even say i disagree with you, i also don't say i agree with you, but i don't think that you can say that is was unfair that they won it. they won so they where better. the kings blew it in a couple of games, and could have finished it. if the king win this year i wll think they are the best. hell even if the bulls win it al this year i willl think they are the best(ok that wil not happe)
Head and shoulders above, yet they have to get Robert Horry in a lucky spot to hit a GW three and 27 FT's in ONE QUARTER in the 4th of game 6, in order to win. Sounds about right to me. Kobe had a bad burger, oh well, at least he was able to play (a reference to Stojakovic's absence throughtout the 1st 5 games and ineffectiveness in the last 2 if I was being ambiguous). As for the quote, Phil's just being Phil with his mind games. Nobody in their right mind would seriously think that the Laker's would have swept the Kings in the WCF, Kobe sick or not sick. It wasn't as if Kobe was ineffective, he looked, although he probably didn't feel, like the same old Kobe to me. The Kings gave the Lakers the fight of their lives, end of story.
What makes Peja the best shooter in the league? Is he unbelievably clutch like Miller? Or a high percentage shooter like Wally World? (Not that either is the best shooter in the league) I don't see it in his stats over his career.
I disagree with that. The Spurs and Kings last year showed that the Lakers lack of cap space is catching up to them. A balanced team with toughness can take the Lakers. The Spurs lost in 5, but every game was close, dangerously close. The Kings could have easily won that series, and no Bibby isn't a "flash in the pan". Bibby has been doing this for years, he just happened to do it on a winning team where you and others actually saw him for the first time and didn't realize he was capable of that. And yes I think the Kings could beat the Lakers in a 7 game series, it's ridiculous to think they don't have a chance to do that. How can last year be a fluke, they've been going to the playoffs for several years, had the best record, rolled to the conference finals and actually decimated the Lakers the majority of that series. Of course the Kings can beat them, the Lakers aren't god. Are the Lakers a dynasty? Of course they are. Are they unbeatable? No, nobody is "unbeatable". If the Lakers were unbeatable and heads and shoulders abobe everybody in the NBA it wouldn't have taken them 7 games to beat the Kings, and they wouldn't have looked horrible in many of those games. It took them overtime in the 7th game to beat the Kings, that's not a team that is heads and shoulders above them. They were the better team, or maybe more accurately the mentally tougher team, but a team that is heads and shoulders above another team doesn't require a full 7 games and overtime to beat them by a few points.
First things first, I hate the Lakers, no ifs, ands, or buts about it. Now w/ that being said, The Laks were and still are better than the Kings. Enough w/ this if it wasn't for Beveda & Stern the Kings would have won the series garbage! Baveda didn't tell Turkalou to hit an 18ft J to put the Kings up 48-24 in game 4 and start skipping down the court to piss the Laks off. Stern had nothing to do w/ that collapse which would have put them up 3-1 and effectively end the series. Stern didn't make the King's supposed "best" player CWebb b***h up and score 6pts in the last 30min of the biggest game of his life. Baveda didn't make Peja throw a curveball at the rim when he was wide @$$ open at the end of the 4th. The NBA didn't put a hex on Christie which caused him to throw up 2 horrible bricks (on of which damn near cracked the backboard) at the end of gm 7. The Kings CHOCKED plain and simple. Bibby was the only player on that team that deserved better than what he got. The Lakers played harder and performed better in the clutch, and that is how you win a 7 game series between 2 "evenly" matched teams.
That's not the point. The point is that if the Lakers were "head and shoulders" above the Kings, they would not have needed Horry in a lucky spot to hit a game winning 3 in game 4, and 27 FTS in ONE QUARTER in the 4th of game 6, along with overtime in game 7 to beat a team they're "head and shoulders" above. Were the Lakers the better team? I would say the better executing and more experienced team (mentally tougher is a great answer from RocksMillenium), but I'll give you that one. Head and shoulders above? No way, a bounce here and there and the Kings would be world champs. You don't need 7 tightly contested games to beat a team that you're head and shoulders above. No doubt the Kings shot themselves in the foot in game 7, nobody will disagree with that. They choked (or chocked in your case ), plain and simple. But how do you explain 27 FTs in ONE QUARTER (the 4th mind you) of game 6? That statistic is just absolutely mindboggling, any way you slice it.
That could be. I'm mystified that they had to reach back into the past to the now departed Bison Dele to fill a big man hole for them. Depth may be a factor. I tend to think Sac-towns glory will be a shortlived thing (if at all) between the fall of the Lakers and the rise of the new western powers: Houston, Clippers and Mavericks. And give them some time...I'd never count out J. West. LA could be creative with drafts and trades (like on draft day) and start building out the post Shaq team that Kobe will play with and stay in the mix when Shaq leaves Q: If Sac-town wins it all this year, is any luster removed from the Lakers trifecta?
Why do people so easily forget the horrible officiating in game 5, that so obviously favored the Kings?
Maloof's comment that the Kings will be one of the greatest teams ever is such a load of crap. Your franchise should at least have a couple of titles (even a single NBA championship visit) before you spew stuff like that. Phil J's statement that the Lakers would have mopped the floor (swept) the Kings if kobe didn't have his cold or whatever is an equal load of crap. Phil J knows he was darned lucky the rings are not on the Kings this year, and I am not getting into officiating, take away a fluke bounce to Horry and Kings game 7 chokes throughout their line-up (except Biiby)--and the Lakers were cooked last year. So ya'll are making much to do about nothing. It is just BS back and forth. They are all postering for the rematch of the real NBA championship when these teams meet again (provided no key injuries) in the WC finals. I expect it to be a war. One thing is clear to me however, the Kings are running out of time (Vlade & Webber are on their decent). I think this year is their last shot and Maloof's comments show this urgency, Phil J is just playing with their heads because he knows if they don't choke again he might not get through it again. He will try to get any extra edge he can.
