If the Lakers get him you can pencil them in for the next two Championships. Derek Fisher is SO bad that it would be hard to find a first or second string PG in the league that wouldn't be an upgrade over him. It's a testament to just how talented the rest of the team is that they were able to win a Championship with him as a starter.

The only number the lakers are concerned with are # of titles. They will pay the lux tax because they are a high revenue team from the local tv and radio deal and their owner has shwon when he's close, he will make it closer. If they get hinrich, its a wrap again. Thats really the only thing they're missing is a guy like him at the pg. He's a really, really good defender despite his size like dumars was. He competes, a little injury plagued, but he would fit right in.

Agreed totally. Wasn't saying I didn't think the Lakers could/should do it. Just saying to most other teams the disparity in level of play between a Shannon Brown @ $1.9M -vs- a player like Hinrich @ $10M is enough to make most GM's start running for the hills.

Hinrich has also never played with a dominant big man. On the Lakers he would play with two monsters. Not to mention, there's this Kobe guy too.

The Bulls just want out of Hinrich's contract, but I don't see this getting done because Sasha has 2 years remaining. Fisher + Morrison would certainly get the deal done.

It makes a lot of sense. The Bulls aren't dumping Hinrich over his play, but his salary is what's standing between them and having a max contract worth of cap space this summer. They think they've got a legit shot at pairing one of the elite guys next to Rose and Deng, and they might be right.

It doesn't help that Hinrich's a natural point guard, but has to play out of position in Chicago.

Lakers don't care about overpaying, he's an upgrade offensively over anything they've got at the 1, and they don't have to give the Bulls much to get him.

If the Lakers make this move and Bryant/Gasol stay healthy......they can go ahead and start planning another parade.

"A source confirmed the Rockets have had discussions with the Cavaliers about Lebron, most likely for Tracy McGrady's corpse, but nothing is imminent."

The Lakers should do the Hinrich trade + the Bynum for Bosh trade. Why not blow everyone away when you have the chance.

That would be a great trade for the Lakers. I never liked Hinrich as much as this BBS but that is just the absolute perfect situation. They would take care of their PG issue for years to come with that seamless acquisition. Who cares about overpaying when you are already over the cap for the foreseeable future? They could still trade Bynum for a real stud too... right now I think the Spurs could beat the Lakers. But you give them Hinrich and I don't see anyone beating them for the next 3 years. Yes Hinrich alone... its just a perfect fit.

True, but the Vujacic-Morrison combo would still clear another $4M off the Bulls' cap to spend on a max free agent.

And agreed, adding Kirk Hinrich to the current Lakers rotation would pretty much seal up the next 2-3 championships for L.A.
