Why would the lakers team cheer if kobe scores? He's not even on the same team

Yes, I am one of those guys. What's your point. Sit your ass down and watch the damn game. Stand up when your team has made a nice play or its the closing minutes of a tight game...

ClutchCityReturns, I truly think V-Span doesn't care at this point. Even if he does get a ring this year, you think he will be appreciative. He will say the exact same thing Darko did when he won it his rookie season. Only reason he is standing up is because his other teammates are and it will look bad if he continues to sit. Unlike Mutombo, I never see V-Span smile and I never see him put his hands up on a bad call. He just stands there. Watch closely next time. Put Deke on any other team in this league and he will continue to stand up and cheer. But he's the only one and that's the reason why I said he's genuine about it. Put everyone else on any other team and see if they will cheer the same way. Jake was on Memphis in the beginning of the season. You are trying to tell me stood up after every made shot. Nope! If you ask him I bet he will say it's stupid too. If this is so great of an idea don't you think more NBA teams would be doing it?

I have personality and I know who I am. If I was on the Rockets I don't care about trying to fit in or what not. My team obviously would know I am part of their team. These guys travel together, practice together, play together, they stay in the same hotel together, they go to parties together, etc. Now they actually make an effort to show it??

What you and others miss is JVG has a media face/demeanor that is different than what he is to the players away from the media spotlight. His media persona of being snappy, arrogant, etc, etc irritates most people, but JVG doesn't care because he only cares how the owner/GM/players feel. If he was the same way in private with the players there would have been a mutiny on him a long time ago. He would have had several Sprewell/Carlesimo incidents. But you know what, the last 3 seasons it appears players like playing for him. So when he isn't happy about beating an NBDL Bucks by 18 points because the Rockets looked ragged, the players probably agree with him.

Have you ever played organized sports at a competitive level?? I was obviously not a professional, but in a tight game hearing the bench shout and cheer was a boost. It may not have made the plays on the floor, but it gave you an extra bit of energy to maybe make that steal, or stop an offensive charge, the confidence to take that corner three pointer that makes or breaks the team.

That isn't something you get from a team that is sitting and silent.

If I truly care about how someone is doing on a court I am going to shout and clap anything that will give them a bit of a boost from my position on the sideline.

    Off the soapbox...

hopping back to the original post. I am glad they are annoyed. If their team was doing it, they wouldn't be. Maybe they should ask their GM to hire people who give a darn.

When you first posted in this thread, I didn't really pay attention to it. In my line of work, the whole group in our office must function as a team and we've had a few people with your personality pass through. They didn't last very long. To each his own, but people like you don't fit very well in very close "teamwork" type of environments where you compete daily for business and each day can be very different than the day before. Encouragement, telling someone they did a good job and just liking to be around each other is a necessary part of being successful.

The Lakers would never have their bench involved like the Rox because Kobe is such an ego maniac and selfish. The star sets the tone and I don't think he likes sharing the limelight and being part of the team. Kobe thinks he IS the team. I truly believe he will never ever smell a championship again. He proved that he places himself over the team and winning when he ran Shaq out of town because his hat size was just too big to co-exist with another great player. To me he is Jordan upside down. Jordan was a pretty selfish player early on and then learned he couldn't do it on his own. Amazingly 6 rings followed. Kobe got his rings early on and decided that being the one and only man on the club was more important than championships. Heck of a player, but a very crappy teammate. I have always believed that a truly great player makes his teammates better. When Kobe is going off he actually seems to stiffle his teammates. Just ask Lamar!

    Worst...post...of...the...year.

God, what have we come to in our society? How do you know whether Howard or V-Span care or not? Are you the Rockets insider? Wow, thank God you're not a bench player for the team. Golf claps and tea all around, right.

Major, major props to our bench for showing support.

You'd be surprised how well I work in groups. But you are comparing a bball game to the real world. It's not going to work. My job required nothing but teamwork. We only work in teams. Everyone needs to pull their share. I don't have to go and tell them what needs to be done. If they can't handle the pressure, they wouldn't be here in the first place.

But like I said before, this team does everything together as it is. Nobody hates anybody. There is no locker room nut on the Rockets and I applaud management for putting a great group of guys together. But I honestly think doing what they do is just going too far.

Now read this part closely, you are making this a bigger deal for no reason. They have been doing this all year. I never think about or lose sleep on this matter. The point is WHO CARES? I really don't care. I do find it annoying, sure. But I find lots of things annoying. SO WHAT? I also have a pretty high tolerance level and this entire feud is the least of my worries right now, lol. It seriously is. I DONT CARE. Haha!!!

Which of the following does not seem to be an example of annoying behavior?

    A. People in a long line who wait until their purchase is rung up before they start filling out the check.
    B. People who don't use their turn signal.
    C. Getting junk mail or spam.
    D. Watching the Rockets bench stand up and cheer for their teammates.

Were you one of those mavs fans from 2004-2005 that hated the WBSS's 3point gesture?

    A.

I have patience. Funny you brought that up because it happened to me yesterday at Best Buy. Some old lady was buying a new mouse and she wrote a check. Entire transaction took about 3-4 minutes. I didn't even know people still wrote checks.

No. I am a "true" Mavs fan this year. I have been in Dallas for the past 3 years though. I've always liked the Mavs (back in the Nash, Jamison, and Walker days) but this year it's just been ridiculous. And ever since we got Rafer I've been slowly losing it. I think it's getting to the point where you won't see me here anymore next year...and I will no longer be able to refer to the Rockets as "we" :(

Good. Power to you. Dallas will probably win it all. And as soon as they go through their inevitable decline 4-5 years from now like all teams do (or maybe 2-3 years, depending on injuries, etc.), you'll be back. Classic.

What can I say, the city of Dallas did it's job. They turned a die-hard Rockets fan for life into what I am today. Am I upset? Not really. I hate Toyotas more than any other car and I HATE THE COLOR RED. + I hate Alston.

Oh, and I LOVE AIRPLANES and my favorite colors and blue and green, no joke. Either it worked out too perfectly for me or it was just meant to be.

Correction, they turned a bandwagon fan into a ... bandwagon fan. Trust me, you were never there. I've been a diehard Rockets fan and nothing anyone has done within the organization has made me change my mind one bit. Even if the Rockets never win another championship, I'll be a fan. Can't say the same for you.
