Ric Bucher (on Sporscenter): Lakers want back a young superstar for Pau Gasol, and are considering offers for Andrew Bynum.

I'm sure morey could work the Lakers down on their asking price....I really don't line gasol either but if we are not getting Dwight which I still think we have a chance to pull off, then if we can give them Lowry and Jones...but not take on the whole 38 million..just part of it..then I say that's fair...I don't want Lowry on this team...don't we need to get rid of Lowry to prove to goran that he is the starter ...I wish by July 1 Lowry is gone to clear the way for dragic ......but I still think we have a chance at Dwight as long as d Williams signs with the nets...if he signs with Dallas...I think we screwed..

    Pau Gasol to Atlanta

I like the Josh Smith deal for Gasol - Lose size and offensive versatility, but they gain athleticism, defensive versatility and nightmarish ability, and a player who compliments Bynum or Howard. You need a player, like Smith to keep up with players, like Ibaka, Durant, Griffin, Aldridge, and Love

Josh Smith and 2013 1st round pick for Pau Gasol, you shed salary and pick a pretty decent third scoring option who is one of the best defenders in the league.

Getting Derrick Williams is much too risky, while Pekovic and Barea off the bench sounds ok.

Even a Scola-Lowry deal is a losing alot of value with Gasol.

The Lakers biggest needs are youth, athleticism, and a little outside shooting.

Position wise-They need a front-line player who can offset the lost of Gasol. A really good wing defender.

Other pieces that the Lakers should look at for their bench or starters at SF or PG: Michael Beasley, Alonzo Gee, Jose Calderon, Leandro Barbosa (off the bench), Anthony Randolph, Donte Greene, and yes....crazy JR Smith.

The Lakers seem to be gaining alot of different offers for Gasol. There's not going to be alot of low balling going on.

Lakers are exploring options for a Pau Gasol trade, but nothing is imminent, according to a person familiar with the conversations. Gasol has $38.3M remaining on his contract, and he and Kobe Bryant will combine to make $50 million in '13-'14, Year 1 of super tax.

Hindsight is 20/20. Yeah, they got Marc Gasol. But that doesn't mean it was a fair trade because of what was given at that point in time.

Wait, you actually judge trades by how the players look 5 years into the future? Does this mean that a hypothetical Hakeem for Alonzo Mourning trade in the 1992 draft would be a huge win for the Rockets? After all, no team would trade Mourning for Hakeem straight up 5 seasons later when Hakeem broke down while Mourning reached his prime.

Memphis were going NOWHERE with Pau.07 and 08 lottery bound years. 04 to 06 playoffs they went 0-12. Not even win a single freakin game.

The trade provided tons of options and flexibility for the future. IT netted Marc Gasol, it needed Sam Young was instrumental in their 1st ever playoff series win vs San Antonio. The trade was fair

Wrong. It netted the lakers two championships. It netted Memphis ONE decent playoff run. That's lopsided.

Speaking of lopsided... Remember when we got Clyde for OT? That was lopsided too

bluntly put, Sammy, you have no ideat what you are talking about.

over the last 2 years, particularly under Brown, Lakers go to Bynum more, and Gasol was asked to roam around the outside more to give Bynum more operating space in the inside.

again, Lakers have asked Gasol to roam around the outside---sacraficing his inside game---to create more room for Bynum.

the Lakers will be trading one of them. the Bynum/Howard trade rumor has re-surfaced.
