I mean, I don't think that Coack K will take the job. He has it way too good in college. This was just a move to pacify Kobe. I think Rudy will be the next Laker coach. But it is disturbing that the Lakers are allowing Kobe to dictate so much of their off season strategy.

Soon Coach K will disappear from the top 5 list cuz our JVG will take over the no.1 spot.

    Too funny!
By the by, successfull college coaches are USUALLY horrible in the pros because the strong arm tactics & threats they use to "motivate" thier players do not work on "men...." Rudy T not having anything to do with the Lakers is mighty fine with me!!!

Sounds good to me. I was dreading seeing Rudy T. with the Lakers next year. I don't think they will be what they have been and it would just make him look bad.

Coach K is severely overestimated like Phil Jackson, who holds the distinction in my opinion as the most overrated coach in NBA history. Rejecting Rudy T is a microcosm of the foolhardiness of Lakers' management.

I can see getting rid of Jackson, he is far too in his coaching methods....Rudy T would have been perfect. If the Lakers want to trade anybody, see about signing and trading Kobe for Allen Iversion, Vince Carter or Jason Kidd himself.

I think the general management prefers Kobe because he's corrupt like them.

With Coach K in the mix and Shaq traded, look for the lakers to compete for spots #7 and #8 in the even more improved Western Conference.

    Possibly:

    1. Houston Rockets
    2. San Antonio Spurs
    3. Timberwolves
    4. Sacramento Kings
    5. Portland Trailblazers
    6. Denver Nuggets
    7. Memphis Grizzlies
    8. Los Angeles Lakers/Phoenix Suns

I always said Phil was over rated i mean the guy only coached teams with superstars and when he knew it was going to go downhill he was gone and coaching another city.

Phil is more worried about his winning percentage than anything else. Etching his name in the record books etc. He would not have the balls to actually take a team from scratch and build them into contenders cause he is worried is winning % would go down and he would no longer hold that.

Coaches like Hubie Brown and company that will take a team and teach them the game and show them they are good and take them to where memphis went is a coach to me.

Take Jason williams from a turnover machine and turn him into one of the best assist to turnover ratios in the league and let him lead a team and that's a coach.

Not take the most dominant player in the game and one of the best players in the league and tell them to "score" give me a break the guy doesn't really coach and in my eyes will always be the most over rated coach of all time.

    no glynch....you're wrong.

This has nothing to do with Rudy T and everything to do with Koby wanting Coach K.

From all reports the Lakers liked Rudy, and Rudy liked the Lakers.......no disrespect there. They brought him for the interview treated him with respect and then made the decison that Coach K was their man.

I like Rudy as much as the next guy, but to say that he is being disrespected because the Lakers want to hire one of the best college coaches of all time, is just plain dumb.

Great news. Now I won't have to go through conflicting emotions of liking RudyT and hatred for the Lakers. I can just continue to despise the Lakeshow. It is BS if he really had to tear up the contract to interview. I guess I'm out of touch. Did he infact lose his Houston $?

no, and i have no clue why it was brought up on the first page. Rudy T. will still make his 6 million to scout next year if he's not offered a coaching job elsewhere.

    Lakers Summer Blueprint:

    Hire Coach K

S/T Shaq to the Clippers for Brand, Maggette, and a resigned Q Richardson.

Send Richardson to Dallas for Christian Laettner

Trade Cook and a future second rounder to Chicago for Chris Duhon

S/T Kobe to Memphis for Shane Battier, Lorenzen Wright, and James Posey.

Send JP to Golden State for Mike Dunleavy Jr., Cliff Robinson

Send Cliffy and Lorenzen Wright to Orlando for Grant Hill

    Sign Cherokee Parks

Use Coach K's influence to bring in Boozer for the MLE

    Activate Danny Ferry from retirement

    Starting Lineup:

    PG - Chris Duhon
    SG - Corey Maggette
    SF - Grant Hill
    PF - Elton Brand
    C - Christian Laettner

    Bench:

    PG - Mike Dunleavy
    SG - Shane Battier
    SF - Danny Ferry
    PF - Carlos Boozer
    C - Cherokee Parks

Thus, you combine the public's hatred for Duke with their utter disdain for the LA Lakers, creating, dare I say it, the most hated team in Basketball history.

    I like it :D

Obviously Kobe gave the thumbs down on the hiring of Rudy T. He must have screwed up when he said that he wants to keep Shaq.

O well. I hope Rudy T goes to Orlando. Then I can really root them on and won't care if they lose. It won't matter how many bad passes SF and Cuttino make since I will be very happy if they win but won't care if they lose. I need a team in the East to watch.

If Rudy T goes to LA, I will instictively root for LA to win which I have never done. That is a scary thought. There was always one constant in my life. I hate LA sports franchises. From the Dodgers to Rams to the Lakers to the Clippers. I hate every thing about them but if Rudy goes there. There will be no choice but a desire to see him do well.

So lets hope he gets an NBA coaching job just not the LA Lakers.

When Chechevski turns down the Lakers they will have successfully shown the world how desperate they are to keep Bryant. They will have undermined RT and handicapped his leadership and they will have proved why Shaq wants out. Kissing Bryants A$$ is a major mistake.
