they have definitely slipped a little bit. A couple of years ago i could turn it to that channel and 90% of the time have it be something very interesting and factual.
I think it's very possible when you think of the fact that ancient humans made the carvings in the ground of pictures that can ONLY be seen from the sky. Some type of communication IMO but with who? I'm not totally convinced aliens visited here back then, but my interest in UFO's start after the 1897 Auora, TX UFO crash lol.
I would definitely watch that. Then they could have a 'Math & Sports' section where we can hear more from Daryl Morey. Yes. I like the sound of that.
History never changes, and there is no film on 99% of it, so how else would you fill a whole channel of entertainment? Statistically speaking it's a virtual certainty that that crap is crap though. Human beings have only been around for a tiny slice of cosmologic time, there are billions of billions of planets to be visited before you find an Earth, it takes huge amounts of energy to transport anything with any mass between stars and millions of years to travel the distance... yada yada yada.... it's crap.
The sad thing is, I believe you are serious. Call me crazy, but I think the History Channel should show actual history instead of absurd speculation about Nazi conspiracies, UFOs, and doomsday prophecies. I think the thing that upsets me, is that by calling this stuff "history" they lend an academic air to what is essentially crackpot paranoia. I'm sure that there are people out there who can't tell the difference, and think that this is real, rigorous researched history by people with professional credentials. "I saw it on the History Channel, and with a name like 'History Channel' it must be serious!"
While I do think there are some things that shouldn't be on the hIstory Channel, ancient paintings and monuments that raise questions are fair game. It is something left by ancient people. Plus I am glad they got away from the WWII round the clock discussion. As for the other stuff, well I guess the ratings talk. History is more than just battles.
history channel has certainly gone down the tube. it use to be my favorite channel, not just for war, but politics, famous artist, kings... etc. now it's 90% fluff. anyone who's been watching it for the last decade can see the change. the best series for history now is nova on pbs, when they do show history stuff.
Yeah, I was wondering how the hell History Channel had fallen so far. Three words define like 60% of their programming now: Hitler, Aliens, Nostradamus. I'm only kidding though when I say I wonder how it happen. It happened because people lap that stuff up, and HC figured that out pretty quick.
