Julie Weiss of Santa Monica is running 52 Marathons in 52 Weeks to honor the memory of her father who died of pancreatic cancer and to raise funds for the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.

Julie will travel to the bay area this weekend to run her 47th race at the Golden Gate Trail Marathon in Rodeo Beach.

Her final marathon, #52, will be the LA Marathon on March 17th.

Damn this is for a good cause, but a HORRIBLE idea if she values her health at all. Marathons like these, especially this frequently, are going to reek havoc on her cardiac muscles and vessels. Welcome to exercise induced cardiovascular disease...:(

Genetic freak. Perfect biomechanics &skeletal structure, perfectly efficient stride every stride. Even if you could match their mental, physical toughness & conditioning, ultimately some people just have a greater capacity to endure more wear & tear than most of us. Running that much will uncover the slightest otherwise unnoticeable misalignment.

Still must be overtraining at this rate, even for the ultimate prototypes this much can't be good.

Good grief. Why is ANY GAWD dang effort on people's part to be better always gets slammed like it is the worst thing in the world.

NOT everybody is like you. Seriously, NOT EVERYBODY IS LIKE YOU.

Uhh... running a lot of marathons is dangerous.

Running one every week is moreso.

Unless she wants to join her dad, she probably could have found a safer way to honor him.

it is quite a feat...but the toll she is taking on her cardiovascular health is very frightening....

I hope she remains ok, marathons are great but only in moderation. Can't believe I'm saying that.

Worst thing in the world? Uh, ok.. You have serious issues if you feel like everyone's 'gawd dang' effort to be better gets slammed. 52 marathons is crueling on the body...I worked cardiac ICU for almost 4 years and in that time I've seen a decent number of hardcore marathoners there. I'm sorry if you can't handle that...maybe you need some help? Seriously, MAYBE YOU NEED SOME HELP. lol, weirdo
