I agree with most of this, I dont want to bring JV back and I'm thinking/hoping Dezenzo is the answer at 3B. If Dana's going to trade Framber, hopefully he gets back a guy like Kjerstad in return. The market for Framber will be robust even if he's in a walk year. I'm all for giving Tucker that kind of contract. Also for moving Diaz to 1st and giving him the kind of contract you're suggesting. I'm also hoping Kikuchi is the real deal and they bring him back. I would also like to see Dana bring in a J.P. Sears type pitcher to replace Framber in the rotation in a trade. Young cheap LHP is gonna cost though. They may have to give up Melton/Baez/Ullola to get him. I would be very happy with Caratini as the everyday Catcher. Good post and way to think outside the box.
He should've just hired a Luhnow underling like Petula or Sig and kept the cohesion in the org. Crane changed the way Luhnow did business and is now paying the price for this. Good news is this should be easily fixable. Sign Tucker 10-300 Yanier 9-100 Trade Framber and Pressly for an OF Kjerstad and !B like Mountcastle If changes in pitch sequencing works then bring back Kikuchi 3-45 Trade for another young under valued starter like Sears using 3 top prospects not named Matthews and 2 lower level guys. Find another Tayler Scott type guy off of the scrap heap. I'm liking what I've seen from Ort also. Fill in the rest of the bullpen with Ullola/Whitley types etc... Give Dezenzo his shot at 3B. All of this can be done at a reasonable cost and help fill the holes that are needed. Letting Framber, Pressly Bregs, JV etc... go will save at least 30-45 mil of payroll so there's money there to tweak things if Crane/Dana are aggressive. Do I think most of this will happen? Not a chance.
you're upset he changed the "luhnow way"... and yet you're offering 9 and 10 year contract extensions? Ok...... (not that i don't want them to retain those guys... but you're actively contradicting yourself)
It's probably not what Luhnow would do, but what I would do. BTW, I'm not upset at all, I've just seen what works and what doesn't work 1st hand. Tucker and Alvarez are exceptions to the rule. True MVP candidates, at a young enough age where they should get 8-9 years out of Tucker in particular. Tucker should age better than Springer/Correa.
Need a glue guy in the front office. 100% agree. I'm not sure who that is, but it doesn't seem like there is a clear chain of command. I'm not sure I could draw a simple organizational chart with Crane, the back of the card boys, and Brown. I think Matthews is the 3rd Baseman in the future. Dezenzo . . . dunno - I think he ends up a 1st after this year. I don't see anyone moving Diaz off of home plate in the near future.
