Thank you. This was my first impression as well. I'm sure the Spurs might want to sign Ben Gordon too. That doesn't mean it's possible, though.
The Spurs are over the cap after the Jefferson trade. How can they afford to still sign Odom unless it is a sign and trade with the Lakers. The Lakers would not help a conference rival especially the Spurs who just bolstered their team by getting Jefferson. I just do not see the Spurs getting Odom unless Odom accepts a 1 year contract of mid level salary.
This is hilarious, Spurs have no interest in Odoom whatsoever, they just cockblocked LA from keeping both Odom and Ariza. The price just went up for Odom and the Spurs true motive could be trying to snatch Ariza out of there to replace Bowen as the de facto defender of the the Spurs. Either way nice move to screw your competetion.
The Spurs don't have the assets to get Odom in a S&T, and their cap won't allow them to pay him anything more than the MLE. 09-10 Tim Duncan - $22,183,218 Richard Jefferson - $14,200,000 Tony Parker - $12,600,000 Emanuel Ginobili - $10,725,000 That's $60 million in salary for their big 4, so whoever they do find for that 4 spot isn't going to be worth much. The Suns... they have a lot of issues that Odom won't solve.
I get the feeling alot of the people on this board think Odom is some scrub. Yeah, he'll give you the occasional dumb play but he has RARE talents. You'd be hard pressed to find another great rebounder with his freakish combination of size, handles, scoring ability, and versatility. You can pretty much put him anywhere on the court.
There are a lot of things I want to comment on but instead Ill opt for a question... if this report is true... what the hell are the Phoenix Suns trying to do?
Watch out for the Spurs, they are trying to seriously reload. AND, Mano is coming back, and Duncan will be healthier.
