Doesn't McGrady consider himself a 2? Hey, he can certainly play the 3... I just thought he wants to play most of his minutes at the 2 where he has a rediculous mismatch.

I'd love to get Barry. If we need a quick 1 to mix it up, we can give Lue minutes.

Same here :D. I really like Barry's shooting, it's almost automatic when he's wide open behide the 3pt line. Fisher's hustle, really low TOs, and experience with a great SG/C combo is the only thing really leaning me toward him a little more than Barry now. But, I wouldn't be upset with either...Hell, I'm just giddy for the season to start!

    Go Rockets!!!

I wish we could get Barry!!!!!!!!

Barry is WAY better than Fisher. Has anyone even looked at Fisher's assist numbers at all??? And that was with having Shaq and Kobe to throw the ball to!

I’m not enamored with either Barry or Fisher, but the chances of Barry being a flop here are much smaller than Fisher.

Generally, the PG doesn't get a ton of assists in the triangle offense.

Paxson/Kerr/Armstrong never had big assist numbers with Jordan and Pippen to pass to. Heck, even Payton's assist numbers were down dramatically last year -- with Shaq, Kobe, and Malone to pass to.

I only think it makes sense to go after both Fisher and Barry if you either (a) get rid of Lue, or (b) can find no decent big-men to play for that type of money.

People are underestimating JJ, in my opinion. He was one of the top 5 "role players" in the league last year, and there is no reason why he shouldn't continue to start. Granted, the backcourt is better with both Fisher and Barry, but we do have other holes, particularly at the back-up 5.

We should have known the Rockets would go hard after Barry, remember that quote they dropped about surrounding Hakeem with shooters.

Maurice Taylor and Nachbar for Brent Barry would be stupid. Good thing that's not happening!

I don't believe Barry's our best option, but I will say this; he's not as bad a defender as people here think.

He understands team defense concepts. He knows how to trap on the baseline and funnel penetration to a big man. He has long arms that he uses to get steals and deflections. Heis feet aren't quick, but he has good footwork. He wouldn't be the sieve on defense that many think he would be.

He looked a lot worse than he really is on a team with Rashard, Allen, and whichever center happened to be starting on a given night for Seattle.

    I totally agree with you.

Barry's efficiency rating last year (15.46) was more than double Fisher's rating (6.62). For their career, Barry's efficiency rating (13.43) blows away Fisher's (8.05) as well. Contract length and age concerns aside, if I had to pick between the two, I'd absolutely go with Barry. However, neither are my first choice.

This may be only positioning - saying the right things to the right reporter - but Barry was quoted as saying he wanted to stay in Seattle. Sorry no link, I read in the Seattle paper.

I hope we get him and Fish. It usually comes down to money.

In his wfan interview. He said we are tall in 3 and 5 spot with T-mac and Yao. Short on the 4 spot.

Who is your first choice? Are there better options out there? A lot of people say Arroyo but you have to worry about a player with only one decent season in system like Jerry Sloan's. Damon Jones is intriguing, but I think Barry gives you a lot more. Antonio Daniels is intriguing, but potentially makes a better 6th man than a starter.

I wish there was a better crop out there, but I think with what there is, Barry may be the best option.
