Race is not the right word, but his post was still correct. When we talk about Jewish people, we're generally talking about ethnically Jewish people, not religiously Jewish people.
Have you ever worked with jewish people? Also, can you comment on why your country will not let people with an Israeli stamp in their passport into the country?
Who is "we"? ("we're generally talking") I guess I am not ethnically jewish, but I could convert, right? That would not change my race, right? What is "ethnically jewish"? Is there such a thing as "ethnically muslim"?
It really is true that Jewish people tend to strongly value education. This would obviously have a big role in why Jewish people enter into fields that require a high level of education (e.g., law and medicine) at disproportionately high rates.
Despite being a small portion of the population they produce their share of billionaires. They are smart people.
lol Prince Al Waleed is as Muslim as Obama is an evangelical Christian. Women who work in his company are banned from covering their heads as company policy.
Yup, worked for them, with them, studied with them, from them, friends, etc. In the UAE? I don't know why it's not allowed or if it is in the law, but there are tons of such people in Dubai. I think it's more like an old policy that's not enforced anymore, and occasionally they bring it out when someone acts like a douche.
"when someone acts like a douche"...so it has to be that person's fault? How exactly do you "act like a douche" when waiting in the immigration line? Or is it more that you, working for a Dubai regulator, agree with the Dubai head of the police (which would also explain your curious comment about jews as a "race")? http://thelede.blogs.nytimes.com/20...ef-says-he-knows-an-israeli-when-he-sees-one/ Dubai Police Chief Says He Knows an Israeli When He Sees One Dubai’s police chief, Gen. Dahi Khalfan al-Tamim, said on Monday that the famously open city may soon block people who look or sound like Israelis from entering, no matter what passport they produce. Until now, the police chief told a local newspaper, Dubai had allowed Israelis with dual citizenship to use a second passport to enter the emirate. That may change, though, after the police in Dubai found that 27 suspects in the assassination of a visiting Hamas official were found to have traveled on forged British, Irish, French, German and Australian passports. The National, an Abu Dhabi newspaper, reported on Monday that Mr. Tamim “claimed the police could identify Israelis by physical features and the way they speak.” “It is easy for us to identify [Israelis], through their face or when they speak any other language,” the police chief told the newspaper. “We used to respect them when they would come holding European passports; we regarded them as Europeans and never treated them badly. But from now on, anyone we suspect to have a dual citizenship, they will be treated with great suspicion.” * The newspaper did not report if it asked Mr. Tamim to put his Israeli-spotting prowess to the test, but the idea that a person’s ethnic group can be identified by the way they speak has deep roots in the Middle East. As Kingsley Amis explained in the entry on the word shibboleth in his book “The King’s English,” (embedded below) the Book of Judges tells the story of how two ancient tribes, the Gileadites and the Ephraimites, were distinguished after battle by the different ways they pronounced the word “sibbolet,” (meaning an ear of corn) — with or without a “sh” sound at the start.
It was being implied that he would have some non-Jewish influence on Fox News, so I wanted to point out that he doesn't fit the profile of a Muslim who would have that kind of influence on a news network. What do you think though? Are you ok with him being Muslim?
Your previous post clearly sounded like you think of him as less of a muslim if he prohibits the head scarf. Why not? And you?
I think there are a lot of Jews in finance and medicine for the following reasons: A) If the Bible is correct, all Jews are descendants of Abraham, if that's true then all Jews are part one big family which would mean that B) whenever two Jews have intercourse they are essentially inbreeding because of rule A. C) We know multi-generation inbreeding leads to poor physical status D) Whcih would mean that the majority of Jews were/are not very healthy physically E) If one cannot handle manual labour, because they are not physically healthy, then they usually work to get an education and become doctors, accountants, lawyers etc. F) Now let's take into account most doctors, lawyers, and accountants are wealthy G) And that most people with wealthy parents tend to go into the "family bussiness" and become accountants, doctors, and lawyers like their parents Conclusion: Because the Jews were never known for their manual labour skills, they went into finance and medicine. And so did their children, and their children, and their children. Leading to the majority of Jews going into similar fields of work. Such establishing a precedent.
My medical school class is disproportionately Jewish (15%), but these students exhibit an amazing work ethic and generally get the highest scores on the exams. If there is a Jewish person is a position of influence, it's probably because they're qualified for it not because of their identity.
He is certainly less of the TYPE of Muslim which was being implied, and he would tell you the same thing, as would every Arab or Muslim who knows anything about him. That's probably what you heard, but couldn't differentiate. I don't care if he's Muslim, I care that he gives large sums of money to charity, and to people who bring positive political change to the Middle East. That's about it.
Not to derail, but I must say it's refreshing to see a news organization stand up and denounce hate speech like that. Would others do the same.
I'm not coming close to this subject because I don't think lawyers and doctors require more creativity/intelligence, they just require more information absorption than other places. But I don't want to derail the thread so I'll leave it at that. I think a lot of it has to do with the ability to communicate with different languages and cultures (acquired throughout history), followed by an unusually high level of networking. I would go as far as to say an unhealthy and almost unethical amount of networking. As NJRocket put it earlier, it seems to be a "who you know" issue, which despite being widespread, is not an ethical way to go about your work. Ofcourse once could argue that it's unethical to ignore "who you know", but again, that's a long debate. Whatever the situation, I admire their ability to generate such power with small numbers. There are good and bad aspects, and we can definitely learn to pick up the good qualities.
this post is awesome!! if the bible is correct, we're all inbreds!! Good news...the bible is fiction...phew! (though we're still all related anyway, kinda)
