Good fit for Steve in LA; it's a place where they need him. On another point, he needs to get out of the Northwest. We all remember how he helped crush basketball in Vancouver.
As many times as you may have seen this, Steve still has a cocky/passion which I think could always help a team. <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/SE33svH2AxE"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/SE33svH2AxE" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>

Thanks for posting that. I find it hard to believe that he has just completely lost his athletic ability. I really wish the Rockets could pick him up.
I agree; I would take Francis. We need someone with a voice to lead this team, and we do not have that right now since Juwann left. Of course I think a players skill is very very important, but I think leadership is an important quality and I think Francis has that. He also may do well as a third/fourth option under Adlemen. If we can get him at the right price, I think its worth it. The guy has soul for the rockets.
How recent is that video? The tile says Steve Francis in summer pro game 63 pts. Is it refering to this summer. I am interesting to know if he still has those moves today.
from ESPN's Stein: If Williams indeed winds up in Miami and if Fisher returns to the Lakers, that will only enhance the Clippers' chances of signing Steve Francis when Francis' all-but-done Portland buyout is complete. Francis is close with Shaq and is said to have had strong interest in the Heat and Lakers. The Clips, though, were in the lead from the start, with age (Sam Cassell at 38) and injury (Shaun Livingston) concerns at the point and Francis' close pal Cuttino Mobley as their lead recruiter.
If Stevie really wants to win, I would go to Miami if I were him. The East is a much easier road to the Finals, and he can finally fulfill his dream of playing with Shaq. Clippers are enticing because all of his 'friends' are there, but that would be doing it for all the wrong reasons, because Clips are never winning anything in the West. Miami at least has a chance, the Rockets have a better chance than the Clips for sure, but both teams (Rox and Clips) are still quite a bit away from having that 'winning formula' to take it all.
For the Rockets I would only take Francis for an LLE/veteran contract. I am not actually sure he could beat out James/Alston/Head/Brooks/Wells for any of the rotation 1 or 2 minutes. As for leadership and court smarts, that has never been his strength. His strength was that he was a better athlete than any individual opponent. Further, you really have to question if Portland would rather buy him out whether he has any game left. That is a young team in need of all the leadership, playmaking and scoring punch they could possible get.
Parking on the top of the key w/ the ball in his hands to initiate the offense is different than parking in the corner waiting for the ball. This is what I see w/ Francis as the point for Houston. Yao post up. Francis looks for Yao and dribbles between is legs Yao screens Francis looks at Yao dribbles left, then right, then left... Yao breaks for the basket Francis looks at Yao, cross dribbles a couple more times Yao repost Francis looks at Yao, dribble and throws up a wild jumper
as much as i love tmac, you have a point. i am not saying mcgrady is not a great player, he is one of the best in the league... but people talk about steve francis like he was the greatest cancer the team has ever had though i think he was one of the best players the rockets had. the lakers playoff run really showed his leadership and determination
