ha! That is pretty much most anti-gun peoples mentality. I am becoming more and more pro gun registration and requiring a license for everyone to transport a gun on public property (roads for example) and buy ammo. However I dont want it to get to a point where we are making honest citizens criminals because they own an unregistered gun.
won't make a new thread for it, but if anything... it belongs in here.

Galveston 4-Year-Old Child Shoots Self In Head, Expected to Survive. Outlaw all handguns, with exceptions for items of historic value and/or rendered non-functional Federal sentencing for all gun crimes
Agreed.Parents of 1-4 year olds also shouldn't be able to be near bodies of water or own a bath tub. Not allowed to drive, or own any sheet or any object able to suffocate the child. Not allowed to own any combustible materiels or live in a combustible habitat. Not allowed to walk or allow anyone to walk near the child, and should have all functional limbs removed. 7 of the top 10 injury deaths among 1-4 year old could then be prevented, none of them include firearms.
Is this a non-fatal injury of a 4 year old treated in a hospital? We should try to cut down on those.
What's funny is people questioning how a grown man got a gun when many kids can get their hands on guns just as easily as they can get candy. Places like movie theaters are going to have to start putting up metal detectors.
i agree. this doesn't matter at all. one child scarred for life due to gun owner negligence... in the grand scheme of things is negligible.
So not parental negligence. Is it parental negligence or swimming pool/bathtub owner negligence that is responsible for the number 1 cause of injury deaths among 1-4 year olds? Spoiler Car owner negligence at number 2?
definitely not parental negligence who are gunowners. stupid four year old exploring his home handling guns, knowing how dangerous they are. irresponsible four year old. it's a false analogy, band... or maybe those pools and tubs weren't designed for swimming and bathing. yep. pretty sure those things were designed to kill. Spoiler maybe start a thread on pool/bathtub negligence instead of a gun thread? better yet, a beef stroganoff as a choking hazard thread instead.
This is an argument that continually eludes him. He thinks the only material importance are body counts, not the utility and purpose of the item involved in the deaths. Guns = Cars = Swimming Pools = Pork Chops... nothing to see here.
Banning guns isn't the answer, but we do need stricter gun control laws and enforcement. Close loopholes, and it's time to make gun owners have to take an exam, undergo training, and have a yearly psych visit to maintain their license. These are dangerous items and if someone is going to have one then that is their right, but there is nothing infringing upon their right to make sure they know how to use the weapon as well as be of stable mind. Possession of an unregistered and illegally obtained gun should be punished harshly and every means to stop this should be looked into.
Child proofing a home means eliminating access to anything that can injure your child. A dead child from poison is the same as a dead child from an unlocked uncovered pool is equal to a dead child from an unlocked gun. I'm confused why you feel differently. Irresponsible 4 year old who drank sweet tasting antifreeze or irresponsible parent? I put all the responsibility on the parent. You are for some reason trying to imply I blamed the kid. How flawed is your argument to already use such weak tactics? When a parent is childproofing a home they should think "I don't care what anything was designed to do, I care about what it can do" You are putting a moral judgement on gun ownership when you talk about what it was designed to do.
