I'm not sure the answer is so clear cut and this will be an interesting test case. This is probably the first example in the modern salary cap/max contract era where a team was able to get 3 max contract players in their prime on the same team (while leaving them with very little room beyond that) On paper it looks good, but we'll see how if it actually happens that way in practice and I'm not necessarily convinced it'll work out perfectly for the Heat. I'd say wait and see before we decry this as the destruction of the NBA.
Not saying it won't be a great accomplishment because a win is a win, but the Lakers have a damn good team also. I'd say they'll be better than the Heat this season. Kobe, Pau and Ron can hang with Lebron, Bosh and Wade any day of the week. I don't think its surprising at all if the Lakers beat the Heat in the Finals. Yeah, I'm sure Lebron intentionally said all that just to diss the Rockets. That was #2 on his agenda besides "The Decision".
I don't think he was dissing Rockets. It was just that Dream was able to win it all by himself for one year and that contradicted his coward excuse.
Dream didn't win by himself. when he won the MVP that year, he brought his teammates with him to share the award. A classic moment that will live forever in Clutch City history. He was the best player in the League, yes. But he had help from heroes. Did lebron mention the Bad Boys? the Rockets would wipe those guys off the map. I mean clean them. Maxwell would beat the crap out of all them.
I do not understand the necessity to root for a team in every game. I root for the Houston Rockets and only the Houston Rockets. I will root for a competitive basketball game.
I'm hoping they'd beat each other in the Finals and both get knocked out. Draw, nobody wins. Both lose. the MMA equivalent that I hope happens: <object style="height: 344px; width: 425px"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/bqGsZzwPD94"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/bqGsZzwPD94" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" width="425" height="344"></object>
You dont hate the heat, you just root against them. Every night will be David vs Goliath, the Giants vs the Patriots, Houston vs the Knicks.. you just want the underdog to win, we can hate the lakers all we want, but for the past 2 years, they have proved to be a great team and earned their rings and some respect, what have the Heat done so far and already they are the odds on favorite per Vegas to win it all.. I mean cmon really? this will be their faces when they dont win the ring Lebron Wade Bosh Riley and mine
Hate to say it, but I want the Miami thing to completely fail. It's not that the "big three" are playing together, it's the way they are handling it. "it's going to be easy" " it's gonna be like a video game" comments are really getting to me for some reason. I hate The lakers as much as the next guy, but FAIL Miami.
Sorry I might be missing some historical knowledge but why would you hate the team you once beat? I didn't see anything there that suggests anything other than fierce, but friendly competion. As for the vote I voted LA, but unlike many of you, I didn't do it in spite of the Heat, who I think wil be an awesome team. I just think the Lakers are presently the better team to watch.
I voted lakers. Imagine if the rox played them in the regular season. If you think that wade or lbj getting superstar calls now, picture what it will be like next season. Damn they will shoot 30 freethrows a game between the two of them. It will be damn annoying.
I hope you realize we beat the Lakers more than once in the playoffs. oh I don't know.. friendly? kermit washington? mitch kupchak throwing punches at Dream so they can be ejected Fisher hitting Scola ...
I like and respect Wade, and I would like to see him win one more ring if LAL met the Heat in the finals.
I like Kobe over LeBron so I will root for the Lakers, especially if Fisher's gay ass signs with the Heat.
Kobe, Pau, Ron can hang with LeBron, Bosh, Wade? Overall, the Lakers team chemistry and far superior supporting cast may be enough to give them the edge over the heat, but this statement is just rediculous. Individually, LeBron will beat Kobe every time. Say what you want about who makes their teammates better (which I actually think is Lebron, but many would disagree), who's more clutch (obviously Kobe up to this point), etc., LeBron is the superior athlete and talent. Pau vs. Bosh actually is in the Lakers' favor, but only marginally. Pau's length/height is the main thing giving him the edge here. Wade, however, is so much better than Ron that this gives the Heat the clear advantage in this hypothetical 3v3 matchup. With this obvious advantage, the Heat would only need a decent supporting cast to outmatch the Lakers.
