LAPD reporting this morning that they have charged her with negligent discharge of a firearm and that they are treating the case as an accidental shooting http://www.nydailynews.com/news/national/students-shot-los-angeles-middle-school-article-1.3793101
Can we start holding the gun-owning parents accountable for negligent storage of a firearm? Or child endangerment?
Don't ask me. Ask California. They are the ones who are obsessed with the assault weapons ban instead of practical gun control.
Owning guns is a Constitutional right that comes with responsibilities. Parents who do not take steps to keep guns safely out of the reach of their children should be held accountable. I have never owned a handgun but I can guarantee if I did my children would not have unsupervised access to it. Children should be taught about guns and gun safety but never allowed unsupervised access to guns.
I completely agree. Deciding to own guns is deciding to take on pretty serious responsibilities, if there is a shooting due to "gross negligence" they should be charged with a crime even if no malicious intent can be proven because in some situations, gross negligence should be seen as a criminal act.
5 people were injured from an accidental shooting? That seems absurd (not saying it wasn't an accident, just the craziness of it).
Not all of them were directly injured by the gun, apparently there was some glass that shattered that injured 2 or 3 of the 5. I heard that only 2 were injured by the gun directly.
Guns should be treated like driving. Require training and a certified license. mar1juana should be treated and taxed like alcohol.
You don't think kids realize guns are dangerous. What about all those kids who brought them to kill people.
http://military.wikia.com/wiki/Gun_laws_in_California Child safety Firearms must be kept locked up when children may be present. The 2008 California Dangerous Weapons Control Law modified California Penal Code ยง12035 defining criminal storage of a firearm as keeping "any loaded firearm within any premises that are under his or her custody or control and he or she knows or reasonably should know that a child is likely to gain access to the firearm." A person may be charged with a crime, if he or she keeps a loaded firearm, and the child takes the firearm to a public place or causes injury.[27]
Do you ever get tired of race baiting? You just seem constantly in the middle of a race based pity party and I truly feel bad for you. I'm not sure what went wrong in your life that made you like that, but something should be done about it.
Yes, you are wrong. Your narrative here is laughably bad and it is indicative of a pretty advanced persecution complex. As to "proving you wrong", I'm not sure what the girl looks like, but that school is 91.2% Hispanic, 4.7% Asian, 2.2% Black, and 0.2% White....so if we're playing odds what would you expect her to look like?
It's also an insanely poor school, nearly 93% of students that go there qualify for reduced or free lunch which means their family's household income is less than $21,590 . So yeah, she's likely to be an incredibly poor Hispanic girl.....but of course there's no reason to even try to look into it before trying to cry racism.
