I think morey makes a SnT shot at NeNe now... if its a no go... I think it would be smart to sign Dalembert to 1 year deal to save cap room for next year...then maybe use mid level money on fesinko. That would at least give us big bodies to trade back in trying to pry away a legit center.
Have any of you guys seen Asik play. I would trade Scola for Asik in a second. This guy is an absolute beast on defense and on the boards. I have seen Asik get caught in switches with 1s and 2s and he had such great footwork that they could not get by him. In the playoffs the Bulls defense was better with asik then with noah
He still can't practice. He was able to sign a contract in Europe but he didn't cause he knew that he won't pass physical know. This injury looks much more serious know that it looked like in September

He won't even have the surgery for a few weeks, allowing the swelling to subside and his damaged ligaments to heal. The early prognosis is that he'll miss "at least two months," but we'd be shocked if he made it back that quickly. The timing is awful for Fesenko, as he's currently an unrestricted free agent ------------------------------------------------------------- It was a couple of months ago, so maybe he is getting closer? SherrodbCSN A. Sherrod Blakely Another name to keep an eye on between now and the start of training camp for the #Celtics - former #Jazz center (7-1, 280) Kyrylo Fesenko. 8 Dec
On Nov 28th it says he is planning to come back and is nearly healed. http://www.sltrib.com/sltrib/blogsjazznotes/53004561-62/fesenko-com-kyrylo-nba.html.csp Former Jazz reserve center Kyrylo Fesenko plans to return to the United States in the hopes of signing with an NBA team once the lockout ends. Fesenko, who played for Ukraine during EuroBasket 2011, will be an unrestricted free agent after the collective bargaining agreement is approved. He is living in his home country and has nearly recovered from an offseason knee injury. ----------------------------------------------- If he is close to healthy he is worth a look. DD
HTML: the same way eddy curry is worth a look. He's been inactive for months. He will not help our team
All of the players have been inactive for months....lol.... We have to think long term, why not give the big bruiser a look? A one year deal like Kwame could not hurt... DD
I'd absolutely bring him in on a short term deal. Thabeet's a massive zero. Even the Vipers were meh on him. He somehow manages to average a foul per rebound....and his rebounding rate isn't that good either. Hands down Morey's worst trade.
I don't understand why Dalember is Plan X instead of this guy right here. As a player, Fesenko seems like a great pickup to me because of the following: 1. Young-as mentioned by another poster, he's a year younger than Asik. 2. Experienced-he's been playing international Ball at an early age. This definitely gives him an edge over raw dudes like Hill or Thabeet. 3. Coordinated-Fes isn't explosive and neither is he uber athletic, however he has good hand-eye coordination and doesn't move like he's on stilts or underwater, something that's rare in a big guy. 4. Cheap-For one reason or another, seems like everyone forgot about him. That makes him a good pickup, because he won't cost an arm and a leg to sign. 5. To me though, the biggest difference between Fesenko and other dudes like Thabeet or De Andre Jordan is that Fesenko already showed flashes of his potential in an actual playoff series against the Lakers. Unlike guys like Thabeet, you know that Fesenko can be an effective player in the playoffs, he just needs more PT and development. I know its quite easy to dismiss him as the 3rd string center of the Jazz, however remember the Jazz have some good bigs in Jefferson, Okur and now that rookie from Turkey. I think he's definitely worth a look, and should be higher on the totem pole than Sam freakin' Dalembert.
Letting Shane walk and taking on 5M salary is better than tanking and gutting your roster for another Hasheem Thabeet. I don't understand how people want us to dump our good players and tank, but then they get mad when we get high potential players on the cheap. Dude was a top 3 pick just a couple fo years ago. If you asked people on draft day, a lot of guys would have traded half of our roster to get the next "Deke".
Because most fans are impatient and write off players far too early, big men sometimes take time to develop, and you hae to work with them. Jermaine O'neal is a good example he hardly played for 4 years than was a 20-10 all star player for years. Thabeet has only played basketball for 9 years, and a few of them were at Uconn where he was told to stand in the middle and guard the paint....not trained at all what a waste... McHale will work with him, he will simplify the game and then add elements as he gets comfortable, that is how you develop players like Hasheem.....if you want to.... He has the size, smarts, and athleticism to be a player, he just needs someone to work with him.....and it is NOT a quick process, but the end results could be really worth it. DD
Rockets get the Memphis 2013 lottery protected pick. Thabeet was a throw in for the Rockets to try out. As currently constructed, the Grizzlies look like a good team, but not elite so the pick should be around 20-22.
What I'm saying is getting a 7'3 prospect via absorbing 5M is much better than having to trade away your best players and tank. The cost for acquiring Thabeet is certainly a bargain compared to what we gave up for T-will (pick for next year). Now THAT is a waste, esp. when we have ton of wing and pg prospects already.
