If LeBron hadn't decided to go back to Cleveland people would see Kyrie for the grossly overrated punk he is. Cleveland was terrible before Lebron, Boston was good before he came and after he left, and Durant hasn't been on a bad team since he was in his second year because he's one of the greatest offensive players of all time. A lot of great scorers would have done just as well if they we're put into the cushy situations f**ktard has consistently been in.
I really hope this happens. I'm old enough to remember all the way back in June 2022 when Kyrie Irving couldn't find a team willing to give him a max deal to his liking and so opted in to Brooklyn for this year
What if the Clippers take Kyrie from the Lakers like they took Kawhi from them? That'd be cool. Unlikely. But $200 million means a lot more to the Buss family than it does to Balmer.
According to a source with knowledge of the Lakers’ discussions with Brooklyn, a significant obstacle emerged in the early stages of the talks between the Lakers and the Nets. The source, who was granted anonymity because of the sensitivity of the situation, said the Lakers were only looking to give the Nets the kind of return they’re requesting if Irving was willing to accept the two-year, $78.6 million extension they could immediately agree on as part of the deal. The two first-round picks (2027 and ’29) and promising young players like Austin Reaves and Max Christie (to go along with the expiring contract of Russell Westbrook) might all be in play if the Lakers knew that Irving was willing to align his contract with that of James, his old Cavs friend and lead recruiter who is signed through the summer of 2025 (he has a player option in the 2024-25 season). But Irving strongly prefers to play his current contract out with his hypothetical new team and sign a four-year, $198 million maximum salary deal that would be available to him this summer (because the team trading for him would also acquire his Bird rights). That revelation wasn’t a deal breaker, but it was an eyebrow-raiser. The Lakers, the source said, would offer significantly less in a deal if it’s clear Irving was only guaranteed to be a second-half rental. Here’s where it gets sticky: Barring an unforeseen change in the Lakers’ Irving stance (again), there will be no wink-wink free agency deal done behind the scenes, the kind that is so commonplace in today’s NBA (tampering charges be darned) and that requires a level of trust between the organization and the player. And that, it seems, is the kind of thing that could certainly derail a Lakers-Irving trade.
Sauces tell me the Lakers are unsure why the Nets aren't jumping at their proposed trade involving Westbrook and a future 10th round draft pick for Kyrie, KD and 51% ownership of the Brooklyn Nets.
So what do the Lakers have that would oth give the spurs and the Nets something to make it worthwhile. Let's say the nets get their 2 frp. What do the spurs get for taking on Westbrook? This all sounds a lot like whishfull thinking for the Lakers fans.
My favorite time of the year nba trade deadline. Just hope Houston does something like move Gordon or something.
I think the idea is the Nets get the players from the Spurs. They perhaps want to get the best short term talent possible to surround Durant, and view that as better than a 27 and 29 pick? (Perhaps??)
Remember all the clowns who hated on Harden for asking out of Brooklyn? The dude didn't want to play with this ******* yet everyone on Twitter bashed Harden. The media bashed Harden. Why do they not keep the same energy with a dude who not only isn't on Hardens level from a play standpoint but is an absolute shitty teammate and cancer? It's crazy.
The mediadel is in a weird place with Kyrie. On the one hand, Kyrie is crazy; on the other hand, player empowerment. They bash him by saying that the Nets are correct in not offering Kyrie a fully guaranteed contract. However, they defend Kyrie by saying he's within his rights to seek a team that will give him a fully guaranteed contract. To me, this points to him going to the Lakers to help LeBron's oldass get another championship. They've also forgotten all of the Tweets that were so offensive to Jewish people and ignore whatever he's been up to lately.
