To be fair to the Nets, all 3 of those guys had demanded trades or walked from their teams before so it's in their nature and trying to put them all together was a recipe for a quick flame out. This isn't like the Nets blew it and got trade demands from Dirk, Kobe and Duncan. These guys are all mentally weak and pairing them wasn't going to make them stronger. Trading one of them for the mentally weakest player in the NBA is hilarious. None of this was going to work, but Kyrie demands a trade on any franchise these recent years. He'll likely give his word that he will commit to the next team and still leave them this summer. That's who he is.

Where's that clip on KD praising Alperen Sengun and the young Rockets while Kyrie is silently agreeing? Kyrie and KD to Houston, Kyrie, KD, Green,Sengun, Bari, Tari, KPJ and 2 future 1sts to the Lakers for Russell Westbrook and rights to swap a 4th round pick.

The problem is, if you don't trade him and ride out the rest of the season, he could potentially just put the fat suit on and go home. Now you lost your shot at a title AND you can't get any assets in return. It's a no brainer to trade him.

Bro. What assets are they going to get? Westbrook? If Kyrie wants out, its done. They're not getting anything valuable in return for their season NOW. Expiring contracts and picks? No championship hopes. Even if they force him to stay and he plays, it'll loom in the locker room but its their only best shot. I think the Nets would be okay with Kyrie sitting out if the only shot at winning is Kyrie says okay and plays out the season.

No, I'm pretty sure the guy who took a random unsanctioned sabbatical in mid season in 20,

who blew up the season after he galaxy brained his way into being an antivax martyr in 21,

who then decided to get suspended by tweeting his v. important illuminati research in 22,

and then blew up an unexpectedly successful season in 23 because of his contract demands despite having 0 trade leverage

and who has managed to suit up for about half of his games in 4 years

Is both 1) the problem and 2) not, despite your argument otherwise, "willing to play"for guaranteed max money (that he doesn't even merit) because of his last 4 seasons of missing about every other game... despite being paid guaranteed max money

Love to see WB traded to the Nets.

Watching him and Simmons chucking up bricks while Durant watches in street clothes make me happy.

Kd, harden and a pg not name irving and u could havr compete for the ring.

The stupid anti vax stance and the divaness in irving killed any chance for a ring. Didn't help Durant kept getting injured.

Harden saw the writing on the wall of how sht a teammate irving was and left before he wasted anymore time on the Nets.

Oh well we will benefit from the implosion of the Nets

The Lakers have interest in acquiring Irving, according to multiple league sources who were granted anonymity to speak freely on the subject. The framework of a potential deal would be Russell Westbrook and the Lakers’ 2027 and 2029 first-round picks — with the Lakers pushing to add lottery protection to at least one of them — in exchange for Irving and another Nets role player (likely Joe Harris), according to those sources.

LeBron seemed to co-sign the Lakers’ trading for Irving with a cryptic tweet. He wanted the Lakers to acquire Irving over the summer, as The Athletic reported at the time. He has since made it clear throughout the season that he’d like additional help.

It’s also worth noting that Magic Johnson also tweeted his approval for trading for Irving. The Lakers legend remains close with Jeanie Buss and is still advising the organization on personnel moves despite abruptly resigning as the franchise’s president of basketball operations in 2019.

It took several months, but the Irving to the Lakers talks are back on. Los Angeles has less than a week to determine how much they’re willing to give up for Irving, and if it’s enough.

But this is the exact reason the Lakers have waited to make a big splash on the trade market. Their patience could be rewarded with the third superstar they’ve long coveted.

I'm not a Kyrie fan by any means but that's total bullshit from the Nets. Tied to a championship?? A championship?? A Million different things have to go right for that to happen, many of which are completely out of his control. Heck, we're still basking in the afterglow of a championship 30 years ago.

We need this scenario to lead to 18 wins for the nets next year. Please bball gods.

I would take Kyrie on if we can trade g bird, nix, boban, and our 28 first for kyrie. Then let his contract expire....

If Nets get one future unprotected pick plus get rid of Joe Harris contract, I would consider that a major a win.
