The casual (bandwagon) rocket fan is more in love with the points AB puts up from time to time. They don't pay attn to the details of the game. They see AB score 30 points and make some deep 3s and think he is the much better player. Ask Morey his opinion and he will show you the +/- stats when Lowry is in the game to show you how important he is to this team. Morey has already stated Lowry will be resigned. So all this BS rhetoric is not even needed... The stats don't lie. Lowry is a better assist guy, better defender, and better at drawing fouls. Those are important tools in a PG. AB is a better shooter and scorer. So they both serve a purpose on this team.
Scola was great during this streak, but the most important change that made this streak is present of Kyle Lowry. Don't forget how we did on last week.
http://www.82games.com/0910/0910HOU.HTM Oh look Lowry has the second highest impact after Martin (for player with regular minutes) Lowry is incredibly important for us; I think some people have forgotten how certain PGs in the league can completely abuse Brooks on the defensive end, or about how many leads Brooks has blown because he can't control the tempo of the game.
Lowry is becoming an injury prone. No matter how important he is, we cannot depend on him. We need a more durable one.
what? he had a bad ankle injury this year which will probably linger for the rest of the season but there is no reason for him to not be ready to go at the start of the next season. that injury just needs extended rest something that the team cant afford to give him right now thats all. right now lowry is playing well not like he was before the injury but he is giving AB enough rest to be good enough to close games out which is whats needed right now. lowry's ankle will be tested next week with the 2 sets of back to backs
He is quite Young, but his playing style seems to make him to be injured easily. This is his contract year. If he gets a decent new contract, will he sacrifice his body as he is doing now? His injury has costed our several games. Otherwise, we would be in top 8 right now. You can say that is because he is important to us. But, I want to say a healthy decent backup pg is mort important to us.
Yep, and the fact that he is restricted is not going to help Kyle, I doubt any other team even comes after him. He should take the one year tender and become an unrestricted free agent. Brooks will always be ahead of him in Houston, and deservedly so. DD
We really need him for the final playoff push, but it would probably be in his best interest to sit out the final 16 games of the regular season. He has to be 100% before playing again.
First off, personal attacks on the boards aren't needed, calm the eff down. We are all Rocket fans here. Second, lowry brings fire, size, and a bulldog attitude to the point gaurd position. He has saved our asses atleast 5 games this season when brooks has sucked it up. Get off of Brooks jock for a second and this about the season not just these two weeks where Aaron has been playing out of his mind. Going forward this team needs both Lowry and Scola to have any ideas to be an "elite" team. Did you not notice we have won 4 games in a row with both Lowry and Ariza? We tried Garret Temple and Will Conroy. Both have decent talent but dont equal to winning basketball. Before you go on a tangent of how we dont need Lowry, think before you speak.
lowry has always played this way, it's not about the contract. ideally players would always be healthy, but you're overreacting. You're talking like he's been missing games consistently since we got him. Budinger went through the same thing, so did battier. Ariza too. Martin. All of them had injuries that lingered, but are they injury prone? Should we get rid of them and get "healthy" players? The league is full of players who get injured. It happens, it's part of the game. It would be extremely rare for a player to have any kind of singificant career and not go through a few injuries here and there. I wouldn start to call them injury prone until they started missing a chunk of games consistently, from year to year. There's accidental/freak injuries, that just happen due to bad luck and then there are injuries that happen because the person isn't durable. Tmac is the prime example of that, mainly due to his scoliosis. Yao as well, due to his size. Lowry is nowhere near that.
