As good as Lowry is, they were dumb to trade a first rounder for him. He's a free agent in 2 years and they will still be deep in suck mode.
What's the point of them keeping their picks? They can't draft worth ***** anyways! They've had high draft picks for the last, what, 5 years? And nothing to show for it...
Yep got one now. Haven't been able to pay for 3 weeks but if you rehab properly you can come back pretty easily. All that happens is a build up o scar tissue. If he has torn ligaments to the point where he needs an ankle reconstruction then yes it's worse but just looks like a bad sprain. Everyones making it sound like he's season is over before they even know what happened.
Not just the pick. They gonna need to overpay Lowry a lot to keep him there in order to justify the trade and that will leave them with no more cap room to improve. But of course you can say they couldn't attract free agents either way.

That pick is top 4 protected. I'm not sure a top 5+ pick is better than what Kyle Lowry will give you the next 5 years. As far as them being bad, not sure why everyone's acting so surprised. A lot of teams now have been fielding multiple lotto picks and still suck. OKC for example had several lotto guys on their squad last year which didn't really do anything. Aldrich for example was a top 10 pick when he was drafted, and of course Thabeet was number 2.
How is it possible to overpay a max player? I guess one could say a certain player doesn't "deserve the max" but that has nothing to do with a player's value in free agency.
Lowry isn't a max player currently. He could turn into one in the future but right now he is not there.
