It didn't make sense to pay a backup 6 mil now its not the case. To all the people saying they knew kl would be playing like cp3 are full of you know what.

But it was pretty obvious the plan was to sail Brooks out and let Kyle start. I mean basically every thought that and it came true.

you're right but i still never thought it was a "bad contract".

comparatively, Orlando pay Gilbert Arenas to be a back up as well...now that's a bad contract

I'll gladly agree nobody knew he'd be playing at his current level. However, a great many of us did think he was a better point guard than Aaron Brooks and was the future starting point guard for the Rockets. And the people with that view didn't think Lowry was over-paid at all.

Yes it was. The plan was to sell high an AB to acquire a superstar. Too bad AB could not keep his good play for long. The Rockets were NOT in any way going to pay AB 8-10 million to resign him. If it wasn't part of the plan, the Rockets wouldn't have matched Nets offer to Lowry and let him walk.

I was Lowry's biggest supporter and one of ABs non-believers. I said that if Lowry was given the same minutes as Brooks, he'd average close to or the same PPG as AB. Everyone called me an idiot and said I didn't know what I was talking about. It just makes it that much sweeter having received all that hate and being right at the end of it all. I'm looking at you DD

I'd rather have Miller backing up Yao than Milicic or Hill or whatever other scrub center was on the market. Once we knew we couldn't get Haywood or Chandler this was the next best thing. It's not like there are any good FAs on the market this offseason anyway, what else would we do with that money? We can still afford to go out and sign a Dalembert if we want.

Not even going to comment on Lowry, at least this thread is proof that lots of people knew Lowry was a good player and lots of dumb people did not.

The only think I didn't expect was the consistent upgrade to his 3 point shot. Everything else I expected.

And actually I'm still a little bit concerned with the three-point shot. I'd still like to see him only shoot one or two of them a game and ditch the other shots in favor of penetrating into the paint area. I believe this is the next phase of Lowry's development. If he can learn to keep the dribble like Nash does, and keep the constant penetration in the paint area, slicing through then doubling back down into the paint over and over and driving the opposing bigs nuts trying to chase him around, if he could do this his assist numbers would go to double digits. In my opinion, Lowry is still at his absolute finest with he is taking the ball to the hole. When you fall in love with the three ball, you live and die by it. Lowry, at this stage of his career, is still very streaky from outside. He'll go 4/5 from distance one game, then follow that up with a 1 for 6 and a 2 for 7 from distance. That's too many shots from distance for me to be comfortable with long term. We've got Martin shooting the 3 and Bud/Lee shooting the 3 and they are more effective shooting it. I only want Lowry taking the wide open three point looks or possibly the bail out three point shot if the shot clock runs down. Lowry collecting fouls in the paint against the opponent's bigs and getting layups and dishes is more valuable to this team than Lowry shooting the 3 ball at 38%.

Through interacting with Kyle and others, I knew he was going to get better.

He knew what he needed to do and improve on in order to be considered a legitimate starter in this league. He's capitalized on being given the reigns to the team.
