Rockets now FINALLY got even value from Battier/Gay trade *Kyle Lowery was Memphis's other pick 1st rounder in the Rudy Gay draft*
Kyle Lowrey - draft profile Kyle LowryVillanova Birthday: 3/25/86 NBA Position: Point Guard Class: Sophomore Ht: 6-0 Wt: 185 Hometown: Philadelphia, PA High School: Cardinal Dougherty NBA Comparison: Tim Hardaway Aran Smith - 11/1/2005 Strengths: Can get anywhere on the floor whenever he wants ... His heart and passion for the game put him on an elite level rarely seen in today's spoiled basketball players ... Rebounding ability is an unusual attribute for a 6-0 guard ... His ability to lock in and defend makes in special as well ... Extremely quick hands and feet, he is incredibly disruptive on the defensive end ...He plays so hard it is difficult to know where he is on the court at all times, just ask Raymond Felton who got all he wanted in the Sweet 16 last year ... His reputation as a winner is unparalleled and his will to win is as strong as they come ... Natural floor general with the ability to get players shots with his quick decision making ... Very physical, he's able to use his great body strength to overpower guards on both ends of the floor ... Weaknesses: His jumper off the dribble has been one of the few knocks to his game ... Must develop more cosnisistency on his outside shot ... At 6' foot he is a bit undersized, but plays much bigger ... Having come off a slight ACL tear last year his knee recovered faster than I have ever seen or heard a player come back from an injury like that and play productively that same year. So the strength of that knee will be something to watch throughout his career ... His temper and his ability to keep his emotions in check could prevent him from being a heady floor leader if he allows his emotions to get the best of him.
I love that he loves the game. You can NEVER have enough of the guys who love to play it...who want to be out there playing and will give there all...I sure wish a certain player had that passion and desire for the game...who knows maybe we coulda won something.
LOL. Seriously if the report is right, I think the good thing about Lowry is that he has the "heard and passion for the game". With Brooks competing with him, I hope he has the motivation to improve his outside shooting and he need to do it fast!
Lowry is a gamer. Using past Rockets for comparables, he has tenacity & grittiness at the point guard position people liked with Francis, Sura, & when given a chance Spanoulis. There wont be too much backing down or lack of effort from Lowry. Watched an '04 or '05 game between UConn and Villanova for Rudy Gay. Game also had Emeka Okafor, Charlie Villanueva, Josh Boone, Randy Foye, like 8 future pros on the court. Didnt flash the biggest upside but Kyle Lowry left the biggest impression on me from all of them. Like Brooks he will have to develop the floor general mindset. Along with improving his outside shot. But if Andre Miller and Brevin Knight can play 12 years with 3 pt percentages in the TEENS....
His biggest strength is how close his name is to Will Smith's character in Bad Boys. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/Cu2gVjiE6Uw&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/Cu2gVjiE6Uw&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
