D-Mo, Brewer, Smith, Covington, and Brooks for Lowry before the 19th. Lowry, Omer, and picks is a better package than just Omer and picks. Omer and Beverley is an even more attractive package. Or Lowry could be traded for a serviceable backup center after we move Omer? Just spitballing.
If raptors are looking for expiring that are bad, and I'm a contender, I might try some of the following. San Antonio adding depths: Trade Bonner and De-Colo for Lowry. I'd like Bonner, but Splitter and Diaw is taking most of his minutes, making him a lot more expendable. For the Spurs, this also lets them add youth on the cheap. Miami Heat Upgrade: Mario Chalmers and Rashad Lewis for Lowry. You might not do it for chemistry reasons but I believe Lowry is an upgrade. Not a major one, but one never the less. Chicago Bulls: Kirk Hinrcih and Tony Snell for Lowry. Probably won't happen but not a bad trade for both teams.
I can see the bulls using Lowry actually. Clutch says there market isn't great for PGs, but there's a few teams that could use one right now. Boston, Bulls comes to mind. Though Boston is currently playing pretty well without one, I think their intention is to tank (the organization, not the team). Bulls definitely need more scoring
Keep an eye on the Spurs here getting a steal that really could be an underrated move for them going on a title run. Adding Lowry to the guard rotation would be lethal in the playoffs and gives Pop the ability to give adequate rest to TP & Manu throughout the second half of the season. You can easily make a case for Matt Bonner, Min salary like Corey Joseph or DeColo & a late 1st rounder or multiple 2nd rounders for Lowry. Ujiri gets an asset for Lowry, and the Spurs get a deadly player that can really help them in their title run.
And how do you think that Lowry is going to react to 13 minutes of playing time behind TP? Pop has time and time again shown that roster dissension will not be tolerated. Don't hold your breath. And Patty Mills is a much more than adequate backup for Parker.
I think many feel the Rockets are still one player away from competing at the highest level. And this maybe correct. So every time a player with even a modicum of talent hits the trade rumors, some/many speculate whether that player is THAT piece. Sadly, most of the players becoming available are not only bad fits, but are hardly better than our role players, much less our starters, are in the first place.
Lowry has gotten to be underrated. Check his advanced stats - he's the best player on Toronto, and his WS/TS% are always better than most would guess. And while he'd be a good fit functionally here, but he's NOT coming back. Him and McHale don't get along, he's had a history of immaturity, and we simply have little need to trade for him.
The Bulls, Bucks, and Heat, but the Heat really don't even need a point guard considering Lebron's one of the greatest point forwards of all time.
At first I thought the Knicks could make a move for him, but they have nothing to send (no picks, and no expirings). Who says no to Danny Granger for Amir Johnson and Lowry? Pacers would have a ton of frontcourt depth with West-Hibbert-Scola-Johnson and they could upgrade at point.
Whichever one is better, Lowry's skillset is more redundant with Beverley's than Lin's. If he did somehow come back, I bet it's Bev's minutes that suffer for it. But, he's not coming back, so I guess it doesn't matter.
