    KYLE LOWRY GAME RESEMBLANCE?

    HOUSTON ROCKETS STARTING PG.

I LOVE AARON BROOKS, BUT KYLE NEEDS TO START AND AARON BE OUR 6TH MAN, WITH OCCASIONAL MINUTES AT THE 2 GUARD SPOT TO WRECK HAVOC.

    Yup.

Coming into the playoffs I was a member of the 'Start Lowry, Brooks off the bench' group. These playoffs however have made me drastically rethink that, at least for now.

Right now Aaron is by far the better option. Lowry is good at running the team, but he absolutely can not score. And since we have no other big time scorers, we need Aaron's punch.

Next year I still want competition for the spot. I don't want it just handed to one or the other. But if Aaron's performance in the playoffs is any indication of whats to come with him then he is definately the front runner.

He reminds me of Chris Paul. Steady with the ball and attack when he gets a chance. Physically, he looks like a smaller version of Bonzi Wells.

To me, Lowry's most distinctive characteristic is his physicality. He seeks contact, both on the offensive and defensive ends. He draws a lot of charges, and he likes to force things into the defender in transition. Another trait is he's got pretty good court awareness on his drives -- particularly good at finding the open 3-point shooters. I'm not sure if any of the players you mentioned are really similar, but I suppose Devin Harris comes closest.

It's a combination of different players. I don't see any one player that his game completely resembles, but if I had to choose one on the offensive end, it's Stuckey. Similar build and similar offensive mentality.

OTOH I see little resemblance between Lowry and Rondo/Harris/Parker. Maybe Kidd for his court vision but at this point in Lowry's development, that's really stretching it.

This is a solid point, but as others have already said, you have to consider the amount and nature of the shots. Kyle may have a game where he goes 0-6, but 4 of the attempts might have been at the end of a furious drive to the basket looking to initiate contact and get to the line. Sometimes it works like a charm and others he just doesn't get the calls.

I'd rather have a 31% shooting Lowry than a 38% shooting Alston who shies away from any and all contact at the rim.

Hmm... I agree a 100% with this post. So who would your guy be that is the most similar to My. Kyle Lowry. In terms of his basketball game, not his looks. ;)

Errr.. Deron is one of the best shooters at his position. If you take away his jump shot, I would say that's a great comparison though.

He was a solid 3 point shooter as well, however he was injury prone. Kyle Lowry would be a very complete player if just had a 3 point shot from what I see

Very poor poor man's Deron Williams and a little bit of Rodney Stuckey. Always looking to draw contact and a willing passer. Great midrange game, but can certainly up it behind the arc (sort of like how DWill is doing it now).

I thought he resembled a young mini-Bonzi without the attitude since day one. As far as PG he reminds me of I can't say he reminds me of any of the current PG. He is quicker than most PG and the only quicker ones are the scrawny dudes.

I think a better poll would have been what Ninja Turtle does he remind you of and my answer is Leonardo.

I don't see that one too much. Williams is a pick 'n roll player that keeps you honest with his 3 point shooting while Lowry relies more on the catch and drive to break down the defense and get to the rim. Sure there are similarities, but you can say that about just about any two players that play the same position.

Well I hope you can answer this time, but What would your closest choice be? Any guys from the 80s or 90s era?

As I said in the original post, I think he is similar to Rondo he's just much thicker though. Lowry also has the better mid-range game, but I see a lot of similarities to be honest.

    you can say that again...

but, why do we have to have an analogy of our players? especially with lowry and ab, they're not finished products yet.

for lowry, obviously his jumper shooting (especially the long ball) can use quite some improvement. for ab, his play-making needs major upgrade.

but i guess to improve jump shooting ability is a bit easier than to do court vision and play-making.

I 100% agree on that the Rodney Stuckey comparison (just a smaller version), I was actually gonna write that as a reply before I read your post.

Also, I don't really see the Devin Harris comparison. Harris is an average to above average shooter in my eyes with way better range. In terms of how they attack the lane, Harris is more lightning while I view Lowry as more on the thunder side

I'd go with Raphael because he's more aggressive and likes contact.
